Specialty Print Communications introduces tools to put postal logistics on the map

Tuesday, October 12, 2010

Press release from the issuing company

Niles, IL – Specialty Print Communications (SPC) has developed two tools designed to help marketers visualize and better understand the world of Postal Logistics – a Zip Code Map poster, and a Postal Logistics brochure.  Both tools are available at SPC Booth #1630 at DMA2010, or from the Resources page on SPC's website.  Attendees at DMA can also enter SPC's drawings for a chance to win two tickets to anywhere in the Continental U.S. in SPC's Pick Your Zip Trip drawing.

The U.S. Zip Code Map visually explains the meaning of the ZIP code digits, how they correlate geographically to a map of the U.S., and a quick overview of how mail actually moves through the USPS.  The Postal Logistics brochure builds on the information presented in the map by explaining the different kinds of services marketers can use to help save money and gain greater control of delivery dates.  "With a more thorough understanding of postal logistics, clients can realize significant savings," said Dustin LeFebvre, Executive VP of Marketing. "We found there weren't many tools like these in the marketplace, and we felt it could be tremendously helpful for our clients and their customers."

SPC Complex Inline Manufacturing Video: Paper to Direct Mail in 30 Seconds
SPC has created a three-minute video that demonstrates the process of complex inline manufacturing -- the marriage of web printing, variable imaging and inline finishing. It shows actual footage of a press run at SPC's headquarters in Niles, IL.  The short video uses illustrative overlays to help educate viewers on the process of converting a roll of paper into a finished piece of direct mail, in a turnkey process which takes just 30 seconds.

"The video is a great way to show customers how direct mail formats are produced inline, and the different possibilities afforded by this unique manufacturing process," said LeFebvre.  "Sometimes referred to as 'inline hybrid complex formats' SPC is one of only a small number of companies in the country to offer this capability, and we thought it would beneficial to customers if we broke down some of the complexities of the process in an informative and interesting way."

The video is supplemented by the recent publishing of Format Guide 3.0, SPC's third brochure in a series that highlights different format solutions and inline finishes. The Format Guide 3.0, Postal Logistics brochure, and Zip Code Map are also included in SPC's BlackBox, a marketing resource kit, which was recently released and can be seen with the video at SPC's Booth #1630 at DMA2010.
