C.P. Bourg teams with Xerox to support iGen4 EXP Web to finish solution at Graph Expo

Press release from the issuing company

New Bedford, MA - C.P. Bourg, the world's leading technology developer and supplier of document feeding, binding and finishing equipment has been selected by Xerox Corporation as its Finishing Business Innovation Partner to support the unveiling of Xerox's new iGen4 EXP Web to Finish solution at Graph Expo 2010 in Chicago October 3-6.

The iGen4 EXP Web to Finish Solution makes touchless workflow achievable from on-line order to finished product with no manual setup or intervention. The demonstration features C.P. Bourg's latest large-format on-line finishing modules -- the BCMx Bleed Crease Module and BMEx Booklet Maker.

The tight integration and automatic operation of the C.P. Bourg finishing modules as an integral part of the Xerox iGen4 EXP Web to Finish solution is made possible by a new capability from C.P. Bourg also being introduced at Graph Expo 2010. This new capability, which C.P. Bourg developed in partnership with Ultimate Technographics and is called the Bourg Box, allows C.P. Bourg products to communicate with virtually any type of digital printer or finishing equipment through electronic job tickets, including industry-standard Job Definition Format (JDF) and Job Messaging Format (JMF).

"The Xerox iGen4 EXP Web to Finish system leverages workflow and finishing options from Xerox and our business partners C.P. Bourg and Ultimate Technographics to streamline the production process, quickly changing and synchronizing production instructions to allow for any type of job that comes through the shop," said Dale Allen, manager, Production Solutions World Wide Product Marketing, Xerox Corporation.

A Totally Touchless, Integrated Solution
"We are excited and extremely pleased to participate with Xerox as they unveil their innovative iGen4 EXP Web to Finish solution," said Rick Trapilo, Executive Vice President and General Manager of C.P. Bourg.

"The industry has been talking about integrating JDF and JMF workflows for some time, but this demonstration of the iGen4 EXP Web to Finish solution marks the first time JDF has been implemented in a totally touchless integrated solution, and we at C.P. Bourg are proud to have a significant role in it," Trapilo added.

The Xerox demonstration delivers fully automated job production from web ordering to finished product. Instructions for incoming jobs are converted into an electronic job ticket as JDF and directed to the iGen4 EXP for printing. As each job enters the printing process, the job ticket is sent to the Bourg Box. The Bourg Box translates the instructions in the electronic job ticket for the Bourg BCMx and Bourg BMEx finishing modules, each of which prepares for the job by setting up all mechanical functions to accommodate the specified sheet size, bleed and crease dimensions, number of sheets, number and type of stitches, and fold and trim dimensions. When the job is nearly completed, the Bourg Box notifies the iGen4 EXP, which sends instructions for finishing the next print job.

The demonstration of the new Xerox iGen4 EXP Web to Finish solution is taking place in Xerox booth #400/600. Other demonstrations of C.P. Bourg finishing products will be taking place elsewhere in the Xerox booth and in the C.P. Bourg booth #2036.
