HP Indigo 7500 Purchase Bolsters GlobalSoft Digital Solutions

Press release from the issuing company

Palo Alto, Calif – The country's first HP Indigo 7500 Digital Press to be installed since its May launch is now boosting quality and productivity for a variety of print collateral applications at GlobalSoft Digital Solutions' U.S. facility in Mahwah, N.J.

The six-color press provides the capacity needed to stay ahead of double-digit revenue growth in GlobalSoft's suite of turnkey, web-to-print collateral products, including brochures, corporate ID materials, retail in-store signage and personalized direct mail.

"Long-time customers like GlobalSoft Digital Solutions continue to ignite their growth by aligning progressive marketing communications with the latest HP technologies, including the HP Indigo 7500 Digital Press," said Jan Riecher, vice president and general manager, Graphics Solutions Business – Americas, HP.

The most advanced HP sheetfed digital press
Unveiled at the Ipex 2010 printing trade show in May, the top-of-the-line HP Indigo 7500 is ideally suited to replace small and midsize analog offset presses and to handle high-value applications, such as variable-data-driven marketing collateral, photo books and personalized direct mail. New Intelligent Automation features on the press increase press productivity by up to 10 percent, and a new HP Labs-developed Vision System automates manual calibrations and diagnostic troubleshooting to save time and reduce waste.

The HP Indigo 7500 Digital Press also improves color consistency and uniformity by up to 20 percent, consumes up to 10 percent less energy per printed page and uses less imaging oil.

"Eighty percent of our revenue stream comes from dynamic, variable-data printing – work that helps our clients sell a product or service," said Christopher Petro, President and CEO, GlobalSoft. "Our clients absolutely need the image quality advantage that HP Indigo provides. Adding the 7500 to our other Indigos enables our production teams to meet our client base's growing deadline and quality needs."

End-to-end efficiencies with new Universal Finishing Interface
A Universal Finishing Interface (UFI), developed in collaboration with Lasermax Roll Systems, connects the 7500 and its workflow to an automated Job Description Format-enabled in-line or near-line postpress environment. As third-party equipment manufacturers develop new UFI-compatible solutions, Petro anticipates he will decrease turnaround times and costs to the point where he can also shift medium-run monochrome jobs from his toner web presses to the HP Indigo 7500.

GlobalSoft's HP Indigo 7500 includes an optional white ink upgrade to print on colored, transparent or metallic media, as well as a thick substrate kit that lets users print on folding carton stocks and other thicker media up to 400 gsm/460 microns. The latest version, 64-bit HP SmartStream Production Pro Print Server GlobalSoft installed with the press improves front-end workflow processing times by an average of 18 percent.

Big growth in large-format graphics
In addition to its growth in print collateral, GlobalSoft has also seen increased demand for its print and finishing services for conference signage and other large-format graphics applications. Earlier this year, GlobalSoft added an HP Designjet L25500 Printer to augment its burgeoning wide-format business.

"With its broad range of compatible media, the HP Designjet L25500 gives us the flexibility to meet our current large-format needs while expanding into new applications like outdoor signage and vehicle graphics," said Petro. "This printer also fits nicely with our ongoing sustainability efforts, plus it meets customer demand for solutions that are better for the environment."

HP Designjet L25500 Printer delivers easy, low-maintenance printing with unrivaled versatility for a broad range of high-quality and flexible, outdoor and indoor applications. The printer uses HP Latex Inks, which produce odorless prints, are non-flammable and non-combustible, and contain no hazardous air pollutants.

GlobalSoft financed its HP Designjet, Indigo and SmartStream purchases through HP Financial Services, which provided competitive, tailored financing that meets the company's short- and long-term business needs.
