Agfa to Take Prepress to New Heights at Graph Expo.

Press release from the issuing company

GRAPH EXPO (Booth #4041), Chicago, Illinois – September 16, 2003 – Agfa Graphic Systems will be demonstrating many of its new and leading prepress technologies – all part of The Graphic Enterprise – at its booth (#4041) during Graph Expo, at McCormick Place South in Chicago, IL, starting September 28, 2003. Visitors to the booth will see how they can reach new heights with their Graphic Enterprise, with demos on :Sublima XM screening to the new Elite version of its :Xcalibur 45 thermal platesetter, from the popular violet 4-up :Palladio platesettter to the new :ApogeeX Phase Two automated workflow. What to See. At the booth, guests will be able to get demos on many of Agfa's leading computer-to-plate (CtP) prepress solutions, including :Sublima for commercial printers and Flexo printers, :Delano, :ColorTune and more. In addition to the new Elite version of the :Xcalibur 45, Agfa will be showing the new seven color :Sherpa 44m contract proofing system. The flexibility and ease of use of :ApogeeX Phase Two, which now includes enhanced productivity features such as JDF production automation, will also be demonstrated. Continuing the company's commitment to The Graphic Enterprise and an open system infrastructure, the newest version of :ApogeeX also now includes the addition of many direct non-Agfa engine drivers and the ability of unlimited system scaling, and load balancing, Web Approval, and :ApogeeX Create. "The :Sublima Xperience". One highlight of the booth will be "The :Sublima Xperience." Printers around the world have been adding the cross modulated (XM) screening solution, :Sublima, to their workflow. :Sublima combines the best of :Agfa Balanced Screening (:ABS), or AM screening, and :CristalRaster, or FM screening, into a what is known as cross-modulated screening, or XM screening. The results, to be believed, need to be seen. Darren Yeats of Quality Graphics in Roselle, New Jersey, has been getting better results with :Sublima with no additional effort or cost on press. "Customer response to :Sublima has been similar to the response we got five years ago when we put in the first visible light Galileo platesetter in the U.S. Once customers see a job run with :Sublima, they ask for all their work to be run that way," Yeats said. Also available for viewing at the booth will be :Sublima for flexo. :Sublima for flexo extends the tonal range, allowing marked improvement in extreme highlights and smooth, larger transitions in vignettes. Flexo printers will be able to see how they can achieve line screens of 150, 170, 190 and 212 lpi without any change in anilox rolls. "Show attendees can see for themselves why pressrooms and print buyers have been asking for :Sublima screens by name," said Susan Wittner, marketing director, North America. Just come to booth #4041 and declare that you'd like to get "Xperienced." Wide Format Pavilion. Agfa will also be showing the :Grand Sherpa wide format printing systems at the new Wide Format Pavilion (Booth #4062 and #4462). Visitors there will be able to learn more about our dual-purpose proofer-printer systems and Agfa's wide selection of :AgfaJet media. Additionally, visitors to the Agfa booth will be able to learn about the new :Grand Sherpa Universal earth-friendly inkjet printing system. This system, which comes in sizes of 50", 64" and 87", uses Eco-Solvent Plus inks made by Mutoh, which do not spread volatile organic compounds (VOCs). The inks are UV and weather resistant, making the :Grand Sherpa Universal ideal for high quality, photo-realistic outdoor applications such as posters, banners, long-term backlit signage and vehicle graphics.
