Zaandam, The Netherlands – CCI, a provider of leading newsroom solutions, and WoodWing Software, a leading supplier of cross-media publishing solutions, today announced that CCI will offer WoodWing's iPad Reader App under an OEM agreement, as part of their solutions.
WoodWing's iPad Reader App makes it possible to publish digital publications on the iPad and freely blend content, design and interactivity within a single publication. This flexibility, combined with the support for payment models through Apple's AppStore, makes the WoodWing iPad Reader an important component to drive a new business model for paid content. A growing number of renowned publishers around the world have already taken advantage of this, going live with iPad digital publications based on the WoodWing Reader App.
"By integrating WoodWing's iPad Reader App into our editorial solutions, CCI is able to offer a flexible and proven solution for publishing interactive content to the iPad," said Ulrik Cramer, Solution Strategist of CCI. "This proven solution, with the DNA of a true digital publication, which includes design and payment models, gives our customers fast access to the iPad platform allowing them to leverage and explore its possibilities."
Content for the iPad is created inside CCI NewsGate or CCI NewsDesk in much the same way content is created for other publishing channels. Either Adobe InDesign or CCI LayoutChamp can be applied, in combination with CCI's template-driven automated page production. Content is then packaged for a digital publication and distributed to the iPad Reader App. Customers can create a library of issues available for download inside the Reader App.
The apps offer many configuration and customization possibilities, allowing publishers to distinguish themselves and fully brand the app experience.
"WoodWing is very pleased with this partnership," said Hans Janssen, CEO of WoodWing Software. "CCI has a very strong customer base in the newspaper industry, and through this cooperation, newspapers can more easily add the iPad to their publishing mix. This will help to speed up the adoption of tablet devices. WoodWing will continue its efforts to make this Reader App the most flexible solution available, so that any type of publisher can offer their audience the best reading experience."
