Kodak signs retail printing contract with Europe's largest retailer

Press release from the issuing company

Rochester, N.Y. - Kodak, the world leader in imaging and inventor of the photo kiosk category, today announced that it has signed a new partnership agreement with Carrefour, the leading European and the world's second largest retailer. The multi-year agreement follows an in-depth competitive assessment by Carrefour to select the best partner to drive category transformation, enabling the two market leaders to provide shoppers with a fresh, innovative, new photo shopping experience.

The signing followed a competitive assessment by Carrefour of the available retail solutions in the industry. In the assessment, Kodak demonstrated the vision and ability to respond to changing consumer needs, driving more category growth and profit for Carrefour. Kodak will work with Carrefour on the implementation of a new and innovative photo concept that will enable consumers to have access to a large array of high quality photo products, from photo books to photo gifts and 4"x6" prints, quickly and with ease.

The Carrefour Group has more than 15,500 stores under its banner in 32 countries across Europe, Asia and Latin America. In turn, Kodak continues to build on its market-leading installed base of approximately 100,000 kiosk touchpoints worldwide, strengthening its worldwide number one position in instant printing and its number one European market share position in dry labs.

The systems from Kodak are highly scalable and flexible and use Kodak's thermal printing technology. This technology offers stunning quality, industry leading print longevity, reduced service costs, low waste and energy usage and low total cost of operation. When combined with Kodak's award-winning user interface, the total system enables Carrefour to provide its consumers with a host of compelling and desirable story-telling solutions, easily and in minutes.

"Kodak's vision is to reinvent the retail photo experience and Carrefour is the perfect partner to bring the vision to life," said Nicki Zongrone, General Manager of Kodak's Retail Systems Solutions business and Vice President of Eastman Kodak Company. "The strong worldwide demand for our solutions demonstrates that we're transforming the category and delivering more growth and more profit to retailers. We're very proud of this partnership with Carrefour and are looking forward to executing on this new business opportunity with this world class retailer."
