Saudi government turns to Atlantic Zeiser to personalise ID cards

Friday, April 02, 2010

Press release from the issuing company

Emmingen – Atlantic Zeiser, the global technology leader in card personalisation and complete solutions for card production, has supplied two lines of the Persoline to the Government Printing Press Agency (GPPA) in Saudi Arabia. The State printing works uses the individually adapted machines to personalise the Iqama Card, which enables foreigners to live and work in Saudi Arabia. These cards act as work identity cards in the country, and are also used as ID by foreign workers.

High demand for the Iqama Cards spurred the GPPA into finding an automated way to personalise the cards quickly and securely. Security and test characteristics, such as barcodes and series numbers, are now applied with the help of digital OMEGA 72 inkjet printers and greyscale lasers. Finally, a camera control system, which checks the printed barcode and ocr-characters of each individual card, is integrated to ensure a 100 per cent quality test. Any incorrect numbers are automatically identified and documented by the control software so that an easy remake of cards is simple possible.

René Störk, Sales Director of Atlantic Zeiser, comments: "We are very pleased that our solutions are enabling the GPPA to produce professional and secure Iqama cards. Our long-standing contacts in the Middle East, our own presence in the region, and our convincing technological solutions contributed to us being selected as a partner for this project."
