George Ryan will moderate panel at NPES 2009 Annual Conference

Reston, VA and Orlando, FL - Printing industry veteran George Ryan, CEO of Printing Association of Florida (PAF) and the Graphics of the Americas exhibition and conference, will moderate a printer panel, "Perspectives on the New World of Print," at the NPES 2009 Annual Conference in Miami, Florida, on Sunday, October 25, 2009. PAF Printer Panel members will share "from-the-trenches" insights about surviving the recession and planning for the new model of print.  Panel members will include Mark Angstrom, Director of Print Sales for Angstrom Graphics; Tyler Koon, Vice President of Lawton Printers; and Art Abbott, President of Abbott Printing and PAF Chairman.
 
The theme for the NPES 2009 Annual Conference is "Recovery 2010: Strategies for the Economic Upturn". The Conference is being held Saturday, October 24 through Monday, October 26 at the Fairmont Turnberry Isle Resort & Club in Aventura, Florida, outside of Miami.
 
"No matter what his title at any of the prestigious organizations he's been involved with, George stays in touch with the day to day lives of printers all over the world," says Ralph Nappi, President of NPES.  "With years of research and assessment of developing print technologies under his belt, combined with practical, in the field experience, George is a perfect moderator for a panel that will explore what is feasible, and necessary, for printers to consider in 2010 and beyond."
 
Prior to being appointed to his current position at Printing Association of Florida, Ryan was executive vice president and chief operating officer of what was then known as PIA/GATF (today Printing Industries of America). He was president of the Graphic Arts Technical Foundation (GATF) from 1994 until it merged with PIA in 2003. From 1986 to 1994, Ryan held a number of senior positions with his alma mater, Rochester Institute of Technology, including director of operations, associate dean for training, and director of the school for printing management.
