eCopy brings business application connectivity to Canon

Press release from the issuing company

Nashua, N.H. - eCopy, Inc. today supported the introduction of Canon's imageRUNNER ADVANCE multifunction system with software products that enable organizations to extend document scanning to business applications and improve user productivity in business processes that mix paper and electronic documents. The eCopy solutions help customers create more effective workflows and improve returns on investment for Canon devices.

eCopy ShareScan software enables imageRUNNER ADVANCE customers to extend beyond basic scan-to-folder and scan-to-email, by scanning documents directly into business applications. There are over 100 Connectors available that were developed by eCopy and eCopy Connections Alliance Program (eCAP) Partners. These Connectors immediately provide imageRUNNER ADVANCE with integration to applications including Microsoft SharePoint and Exchange, EMC Documentum and Autonomy iManage WorkSite to name a few.

eCopy PaperWorks provides desktop document imaging capabilities for organizations utilizing imageRUNNER ADVANCE models for document capture. The software enables organizations to get work done faster and simplify business processes that mix paper and electronic documents. It helps office workers secure and preserve information contained across document types into a single, easy to manage PDF software file.

Support for Canon imageRUNNER ADVANCE models by eCopy builds on the two companies' successful partnership, which has resulted in more than 100,000 Canon multifunction products (MFPs) sold with eCopy ShareScan document scanning software.

eCopy was the first software firm to deliver an application for the Canon Multifunctional Embedded Application Platform (MEAP), which is included with imageRUNNER ADVANCE models. It has the largest customer market share for third-party applications developed for Canon MEAP devices.

eCopy has utilized its deep experience with Canon products to develop software that takes full advantage of imageRUNNER ADVANCE capabilities, providing an easy to use yet powerful solution for Canon MFP customers. eCopy has certified more than 1,750 technicians within the Canon sales channel to install and configure eCopy products.

eCopy ShareScan also operates on Canon DR and ScanFront scanners. By spanning Canon multifunction product and scanner environments, eCopy enables office workers to use common scanning procedures at any of an organization's document imaging devices – which support ease of use and compliance best practices.

"eCopy delivers great value to customers by extending imageRUNNER ADVANCE devices with the most extensive options for connectivity to business applications and workflows," said Sam Yoshida, vice president and general manager, Imaging Systems Group, Canon U.S.A.  "We have had a long, productive partnership with eCopy and today's announcement reflects how we continue to work closely together to address customer needs."

According to Mike Conley, eCopy vice president of engineering, "We deliver proven solutions for Canon customers – many of which have come to view eCopy ShareScan as an essential part of their imageRUNNER deployments. eCopy has more experience developing software for embedded MFP environments than any other company. As a result, eCopy has the experience to take full advantage of the capabilities of the Canon MEAP environment to provide the best possible user experience."
