Katrina Victims Volunteer Day at Spring Technology Conference

Press release from the issuing company

Alexandria, VA -- Print professionals traveling to New Orleans for the 2009 Spring Technology Conference in June will also have the opportunity to participate in a day of community service thanks to a collaboration between the Print Services & Distribution Association (PSDA) and the St. Bernard Project, a non-profit organization dedicated to helping victims of Hurricane Katrina. The Spring Technology Conference is held annually by PSDA to educate professionals on new technologies affecting the printing industry and how businesses can adopt these advancements for future gain. This year, the conference is being held on June 1-3 at the Ritz-Carlton New Orleans with the option to participate in the Katrina Victims Volunteer Day on Sunday, May 31st.

”The Katrina Victims Volunteer Day is a unique, but meaningful addition to the agenda of this year’s Spring Technology Conference,” says Mike Pramstaller, vice president of events for PSDA. “For many families, the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina is still a harsh reality. PSDA is proud to partner with the St. Bernard Project and give back to the local community during our time in New Orleans.”

Individuals choosing to sign up for the Katrina Victims Volunteer Day will partake in the construction of a new home for one or more local New Orleans families displaced by the 2005 hurricane. Volunteers can expect to work a full day, from 8:30 am – 5:30 pm, on a variety of common repairs from painting to flooring. While no related skills are required, it is recommended that participants feel comfortable working in standard construction conditions.  The St. Bernard Project will have project managers, as well as required tools, onsite to support PSDA volunteers.

For individuals interested in supporting the residents of New Orleans, the St. Bernard Project accepts donations through its website at www.stbernardproject.org.
Registration for the Spring Technology Conference is $395 and will be available online through May 22, 2009. To learn more about this event and the Katrina Victims Volunteer Day, please visit PSDA online at http://www.psda.org/events/stc/home.aspx.
