EFI Debuts Fiery Print Server for Xerox iGen4

Press release from the issuing company

PHILADELPHIA -- EFI, the world leader in customer-focused digital printing innovation, today unveiled its highest performance, next-generation Fiery print server for the Xerox iGen4TM  press with enhanced color management tools and in-line output profiling, among other new features, to deliver unparalleled color quality. The EX Print Server powered by Fiery driving the iGen4 press is on display in Xerox Corporation's booth 2000 at ON DEMAND Conference &  Exposition through April 2 at the Pennsylvania Convention Center.

Together with the new Fiery server, the iGen4 press is one of the most productive and highest-quality cut-sheet digital color presses in the printing industry, creating offset and photo-quality images with consistent color from the first print to the last. It is the ideal press for producing high-end collateral, direct marketing and photo specialty products – print jobs that typically generate the most profits for print providers.

Achieving color quality and consistency remains one of the biggest challenge facing the printing industry, but with the new integrated and automated tools in the EX Print Server the guesswork is completely removed, resulting in professional quality color "out of the box" to deliver the desired output the first time and every time. The Xerox iGen4 is the first digital press to include an In Line Spectrophotometer (ILS). Integrated profile making using EFI's award-winning Color Profiler Suite ensures accurate colors and maximum gamut utilization. Combined with Fiery Spot-On for spot color management, profile making allows for dynamic PANTONE color adjustments so operators of all skill levels can ensure corporate colors are always a match.

"The Fiery-driven iGen4 press is another example of EFI and Xerox working together to deliver outstanding image quality, maximum speed, and unsurpassed reliability required by the most demanding print service providers," said John Henze, vice president of marketing, Fiery Division, EFI. "In particular, by joining profile making tools with Fiery's already powerful color management features, customers can achieve seamless and automated end-to-end color managed workflows."

Gina Testa, vice president, Worldwide Graphic Communications Industry Business, Xerox, said: "In today's challenging economic climate, print providers are looking for new ways to stay competitive, increase efficiency and boost profitability. The powerful combination of the Xerox iGen4 and the Fiery enables print providers to more easily handle higher profit and complex jobs, while ensuring customer satisfaction and repeat orders."

The EX Print Server will be one of the first to ship with the new Fiery Command WorkStation 5 (CWS5). Fiery CWS5 unleashes the powerful features of Fiery servers by centralizing job management via an intuitive, flexible interface that produces jobs faster, dramatically reduces operator mistakes by up to 30 percent, decreases waste, and increases the overall profitability for the production printer. CWS5 simplifies complex jobs, providing exceptional results at every stage of a job at two to three times the throughput speed of most competitive printing systems to enable the print shop to deliver customer jobs more profitably.

With the Fiery-driven iGen4 press, it is easy to handle higher profit, complicated jobs that require document imposition and composition. The new Fiery SeeQuence Suite of make-ready software tools further simplifies and automates labor intensive document preparation activities via an intuitive interface. Fiery SeeQuence Impose and Fiery SeeQuence Compose work independently or in a tightly integrated workflow through CWS5, allowing operators of different skill levels to accurately set-up jobs and soft-proof. Both Fiery Command WorkStation 5 and the Fiery SeeQuence Suite are on display in the Xerox ON DEMAND booth.

In addition, the Fiery streamlines and speeds up communication with direct connectivity to the Xerox iGen4 to guarantee production at rated speeds. The Fiery open platform conforms to industry standards and integrates seamlessly into Xerox FreeFlow workflows, enabling integration into pre-press and production processes and offering additional workflow automation tools to increase productivity even further.

EFI Fiery for the Xerox iGen4 press is expected to be available in Q2. More information is available at ON DEMAND in EFI booth 1943, in Xerox booth 2000, at www.efi.com and 800.875.7117.
