Press release from the issuing company

The Museum of Work (Museum der Arbeit) in Hamburg last weekend exhibited a retrospective of three decades of lithographic works.  On the occasion of the sixth North German Hand Press exhibition, the International Senefelder Foundation made a special presentation of about 40 works produced by its award winners, including lithographs by Stefan Szcesny, Barbara Beisinghoff, Koichi Bugihara, Bard Varbaenen, Bruno Bruni and Jim Dine.

Also on display was the work of Ms. Kuniko Tadokoro, the winner of the tenth    Senefelder Award.  The calligraphy art book produced by the Japanese artist and lithographer was awarded a prize of 7,500 euros in November 2008.

The sixth North German Hand Press exhibit was held January 16-18 and 50 book artists from Germany and abroad showed their treasures.  Sarah Bodman from the University of the West of England in Bristol talked about ‘Digital Printing and Traditional Printing Technology’.  Numerous presentations showed Ebru marbling technique, book printing, type casting, lithography and papermaking.  All activities were managed by BuchDruckKurt e.V. Hamburg, with whom the International Senefelder Foundation has cooperated with closely for years.  The Foundation was represented by executive board member Karl-Heinz Dobert.
