Margie Dana to Conduct IGI Sessions in June

Thursday, April 30, 2009

Press release from the issuing company

Pewaukee, Wisconsin -- The Institute for Graphics and Imaging (IGI)—an education and training organization funded by and dedicated to the printing and graphic arts industry—has announced two half-day training courses on June 23, 2009, dealing with the print buying process.  The courses will be held in the IGI facilities in Pewaukee, Wisconsin.  The sessions will be conducted by Margie Dana, a former print buyer who is widely acknowledged as the preeminent expert in the subject. Margie is the founder of Print Buyers International, a professional association that caters to those who source print and other media.  Course details and enrollment forms are available at www.igi.org/events_calendar/default.asp.
A morning session—for print buyers and others unfamiliar with printing—will focus on different printing processes and how to evaluate them.  Students will learn how to purchase printing professionally and cost effectively, as well as how to develop effective printer-print buyer partnerships.  The course will also cover the role of print brokers and other print sourcing options available to print buyers today.
An afternoon session—for printers and their sales personnel—will detail the most effective strategies for dealing with print buyers and for forging alliances which will benefit both the printer and the print buyer.  The value of printers’ websites will be discussed, as well as how print buyers evaluate printers and brokers.
Announcing the print buyer courses, IGI Executive Director Ron Dahl commented: “Margie Dana is widely known for her print buying training sessions and writings on the subject.  Both of the scheduled sessions will deal specifically with the effects of the current economy upon printers and their customers.  IGI is pleased to offer her courses, which benefit both print buyers and those selling print.”
The Institute for Graphics and Imaging provides education and training in the graphic design, printing, and related industries.  Supported by a vast network of industry suppliers, printers, publishers, and governmental agencies, IGI operates on the campus of the Waukesha County Technical College in suburban Milwaukee.  IGI facilities, which include computer classrooms and access to the latest printing equipment, are available for sales events and corporate training courses.  For additional information go to www.igi.org or call 262-695-6260.
