MCS Perfect Match 6.0 advances mail piece integrity tracking

Press release from the issuing company

Gaithersburg, MD – MCS, Inc., the leader in industrial and mailing inkjet and camera systems, is showing an entirely new camera and tracking system at Print09 in Chicago.  The Perfect Match 6.0 System with Virtual Cycle Tracking provides 1 to 1 tracking for each piece through virtually any mail production or inserter segment.  This technology allows for effective logging and verification for even the most complex production scenarios.  With this extended technology, mailing operations can now perform matching, read and print operations and exit camera verfication with the highest confidence at the highest speeds.

Virtual Cycle Tracking integrates any number of sensors and cameras which verify each piece's position throughout the entire production – even past the inserter.  Pieces can be tracked through segments such as conveyers, diverters, turnovers, attachers, inkjet systems and any number of cameras.

In addition to allowing effective tracking through complex inserters with multiple diverters, and non-sychronized transport sections, Virtual Cycle Tracking allows effective tracking through attachers, tabbers, inkjet systems, bump turns and transfer tables.

Older technology systems use a simple FIFO system that uses electric eyes with an encoder, which is less reliable because pieces slip on the belt. If something happens to a mail piece, the system can only tell that something happened between two electric eyes. In many cases, this could mean over 10 pieces in the system.  This type of tracking is often not robust enough for end-users that are used to transactional-based systems. Even transactional mail customers that also utilize direct mail advertising are frequently requiring higher levels of verification than can be provided by a typical mail shop.

The Perfect Match 6.0 system is the only after-market integrity system of its kind – that can help direct mailers meet these heightened requirements.  It offers customes a new level of integrity that traditionally was only found on transactional systems costing hundreds of thousands of dollars.
