Creel Printing installing Goss Magnum 4 newspaper press

Press release from the issuing company

April 21st, 2007 – Creel Printing, a specialist in commercial catalog and publication printing as well as newspaper production, is installing a new Goss Magnum 4 single-width newspaper press. The four-page press with eight four-high towers and two Goss N-40 folders will go into production in June in Las Vegas, Nevada. “Creel Printing is continuing to grow, and we are experiencing an increase in the number of weekly regional newspapers we are producing in the Las Vegas area,” according to Allan Creel, Jr., president. “Proven performance and versatility made the Magnum press a good fit for us.” The new Magnum 4 press at Creel Printing has a 22-inch cut-off, 35-inch web-width, Goss Omnicon controls and quarter-fold capabilities. “We looked at a lot of press systems and made our decision based on our confidence in this technology and our confidence in the Goss International team,” explains Creel. “We have a very strong relationship and we know we can depend on their expertise, their support and their products.” Creel Printing operates several Goss press and finishing systems. The company added new Goss Sunday 2000 16-page gapless commercial web presses in 2003 and 2005 and a Goss Pacesetter 1100 saddlestitcher in 2005. Allan Creel envisions a growing opportunity for commercial printing operations to produce daily and weekly newspapers. “We see an increasing demand, particularly in the southwest region of the United States, for printers that can offer higher print quality and more efficient press performance across a wide range of products and formats,” he says. “We are continuing to invest in response to that demand.” Goss Magnum 4 presses print at up to 45,000 copies per hour. The eight-web configuration at Creel printing with the N-40 1:2 jaw folders will produce up to 35,000 copies per hour. Creel Printing has facilities in Las Vegas and Costa Mesa, California. The company operates around the clock, seven days a week and provides CTP pre-press and proofing, digital and sheetfed printing, coldset and heatset web printing and a full range of in-house finishing and mailing services.
