Press release from the issuing company

RICHMOND, Virginia, and SAO PAULO, Brazil - September 28, 2007 -- MeadWestvaco Corporation  and Klabin, Brazil's largest paperboard producer and exporter, today announced the creation of a sales and marketing agreement in which MeadWestvaco will sell a share of the coated kraft paperboard produced at Klabin's Monte Alegre paper mill located in Telemaco Borba, Parana, Brazil.  The agreement will go into effect January 1, 2008.
"Access to Klabin's paperboard will benefit customers because it gives MeadWestvaco the opportunity to expand our portfolio of high-quality packaging substrates and extend our industry leading Coated Natural Kraft line," says Charles Johnson, vice president of Global Businesses for MeadWestvaco's Packaging Resources Group. "The value of this deal is that it brings together high-quality products from two world-class manufacturers, providing customers with more extensive packaging and service solutions."
The agreement involves coated kraft paperboard sold under the brand name KlaFold, which features excellent printing and converting properties for high shelf impact and visibility. KlaFold is ideal for packaging dry goods, consumer products and electronics.  KlaFold FZ, another product involved, provides strength and durability in the demanding environment of low temperatures and high humidity for frozen and refrigerated food packaging.
In addition to providing global sales and marketing for this agreement, MeadWestvaco also will dedicate a team of professionals to provide supply chain, customer service and technical sales support.  MeadWestvaco will leverage its extensive global sales network to make KlaFold and KlaFold FZ available to leading consumer goods companies around the world.
"Our agreement with MeadWestvaco enables Klabin to enhance the marketing and sales of our new capacity, with the added benefit of utilizing MeadWestvaco's well-established supply chain," adds Donald Mota, Klabin commercial director -- Paper Business Unit. "Both MeadWestvaco and Klabin are known for providing exceptional packaging solutions that help brand owners strengthen their brand's image.  These products, made from a renewable resource, offer customers the opportunity to use a recyclable substrate to achieve the high-end look and performance they demand."
