Digital Graphic Solutions Accelerates Growth with EFI VUTEk PV200 Superwide Format Printer

Press release from the issuing company

FOSTER CITY, CA – April 4, 2007 – EFI, the world leader in color digital print servers, superwide format printers and inks, and print management solutions, today reported that Digital Graphic Solutions of Atlanta, GA, a superwide format printer primarily serving the point-of-sale materials market, credits its EFI VUTEk PV200 with its ability to continue to deliver double digit revenue growth. “We founded our business seven years ago with a conventional wide format inkjet printer,” says Matt Barton, founder and owner. “Over time, we found that our inability to print directly to rigid substrates was causing us to lose business because the extra steps of laminating and mounting added too much extra cost to the process. We acquired the VUTEk PV200 and have never looked back. It is one of the best decisions we have ever made.” Today, Digital Graphic Solutions employs four and generates revenues of nearly $1 million annually. Using the VUTEk PV200’s direct-to-rigid-substrate printing capability, Digital Graphic Solutions is producing a wide variety of point-of-sale materials for major consumer products companies in the food and beverage, restaurant, retail, and aerospace industries. The range of applications enabled by the VUTEk PV200 includes stand-up displays, foam core posters, and corrugated displays for both indoor and outdoor applications. In addition, the VUTEk PV200 is able to print to a variety of textiles that can then be used to create three-dimensional displays. Barton adds, “We are constantly finding new applications that the VUTEk PV200 allows us to accomplish. For example, we are now able to produce customized linoleum floor tile, which we believe will meet with an enthusiastic reception in our customer base.” The VUTEk PV200 is an affordable production printer that produces high image quality and is one of the most versatile printers available today, printing at 600 dpi with up to six colors and 80 inches (2 meters) wide. The VUTEk PV200 is capable of producing process color at a rate of up to 350 square feet (33 square meters) per hour on rigid substrates up to 1.75 inches (4.45 cm) thick. “Digital Graphic Solutions is a great example of a small business that has harnessed the power of VUTEk solutions from EFI to retain existing customers and acquire new ones,” said Mike Wozny, who heads product marketing for VUTEk systems at EFI. “In addition to printing directly to rigid substrates, Digital Graphic Solutions also produces materials using mesh, canvas and a wide range of other materials for both two-dimensional and three-dimensional displays. Its customers are delighted with the quality and versatility of its work.” “At the time we acquired the VUTEk PV200,” added Barton, “it was one of the few printers at a price point we could afford that was a true production printer. It is a well constructed, robust workhorse, and the support from EFI has been outstanding. The press is running constantly, and with the time-sensitive nature of our business, EFI support has meant that we have never been totally down. I would never even consider another brand.”
