Newpage Announces New Names For No. 5 Web Lines

Press release from the issuing company

MIAMISBURG, Ohio. – March 6, 2008 – NewPage Corporation announced today key decisions being taken to integrate its coated No. 5 and uncoated web paper lines as a result of its acquisition of Stora Enso North America (SENA).

"At NewPage, we are dedicated to providing a mix of innovative brands and reliable product designs for our customers. As part of the combination of NewPage and Stora Enso North America, we are required to rename some products with brand names that are currently registered with Stora Enso Oyj. Though these products will carry new brand names, they still have the same product designs, attributes and on-press performance that publishers, catalogers and retailers have come to expect and trust," said David Deger, vice president, marketing.

The NewPage coated No. 5, supercalendered and newsprint product offerings are as follows:

For No. 5 coated groundwood web offset and rotogravure products, NewPage will simply change the name of ConsoPress and ConsoPress Advantage to Consoweb and Consoweb Advantage. The product design, attributes and performance remain the same.

Former SC-A+ and SC-A brands MagniPress and SuperiorPress will be renamed Voyager and Superior Gloss respectively. A change in name only, they continue to be the proven performance leaders in their product categories, providing printed results and on-press performance similar to many lightweight coated brands.

NewPage will continue to offer the Arbor design to its environmentally minded customers in the No. 5 and SC-A+ product categories. Consoweb Arbor and Voyager Arbor feature triple chain-of-custody certification (Forest Stewardship Council (FSC), Sustainable Forestry Initiative (SFI) and Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification (PEFC)) and 30% post-consumer recycled content.

ExoPress and ExoPress Plus products are being renamed as Spartanweb and Spartanweb Plus. These products are a value alternative to SN-C/SC-B sheets that maintain printed results while yielding improved opacity and bindery performance.

"In addition to renaming the above products, NewPage is introducing an innovative new product, Expedition. Expedition is a lightweight uncoated product offering the brightness of a No. 4 coated groundwood product. Therefore, it is a smart choice for publishers of magazines, catalogs and retail inserts who require a higher brightness and image quality, yet have budgets to maintain," said Jim Sheibley, general manager, ultra-lightweight and supercalendered papers.

"We are continuing our work in refining our broad palette of products that serve almost every facet of the marketplace. This is the second step in announcing this refined offering. As further decisions are made, we will continue to communicate them promptly," stated Deger.
