Xerox to Offer Free Trial of VIPP Pro Publisher

Press release from the issuing company

March 6 2008 -- The transaction print industry is undergoing a revolutionary change – moving from revenue report printing to revenue generation. Transactional print providers are for the first time, creating visually appealing documents that are not only easy to understand, but help generate added revenue for clients. To better serve this sector, Xerox Corporation will release Xerox VIPP Pro Publisher, its new Adobe InDesign Plug-In for the Xerox FreeFlow Variable Information Suite - and will begin taking orders at AIIM/On Demand 2008.

VIPP Pro Publisher, shown as a technology demonstration at Graph Expo, allows print providers to use the familiar, graphics-rich InDesign software as the basis for adding variable text and images to documents such as postcards, statements and invoices, and other customer communications. The software also provides support for Xerox's award-winning specialty imaging text effects, offering affordable fraud deterrence and greater visual impact to personalized documents. The plug-in lets users easily and quickly design applications on a PC or Mac and generate VIPP PRO output – an optimized data stream that virtually eliminates the pre-composition step from a variable print workflow.  VIPP PRO enables the fastest print throughput, saving customers hours and in many cases days of pre-composition time.

The VIPP PRO data stream provides faster output speeds by separating all text and image variables and static data, allowing final transaction documents to be constructed "on the fly" at the printer to save on time and network bandwidth. VIPP PRO output also enables print providers to capitalize on postal rate discounts through the ability to use Z-sort – a feature that prints materials in an order by ZIP code for easy cutting, sorting and mailing.

VIPP Pro Publisher, which received a "Must See 'em" award at Graph Expo from PrintCom Consulting Group for its unique, innovative and productivity-enabling capabilities, will be available worldwide for a 30-day free trial beginning March 4, via download from http://www.xerox.com/digital-printing/workflow/freeflow/vipp-pro-publisher/enus.html. For print providers already familiar with the software, it is immediately available for worldwide purchase at a U.S. list price of $2,500. Users must have Adobe InDesign and Xerox FreeFlow's VI Interpreter to take advantage of the VIPP PRO Publishing software.
