Newpage Announces Coated No. 2-4 Web Paper Lines

Press release from the issuing company

MIAMISBURG, Ohio. – February 22, 2008 – NewPage Corporation announced today key decisions being taken to integrate and streamline its coated No. 2-4 web paper lines as a result of its acquisition of Stora Enso North America (SENA).

"At NewPage, we are committed to our customers and their collective desire for us to offer a broad portfolio of printing papers such as coated freesheet, coated groundwood, newsprint, supercalendered, and specialty products to meet a wide variety of needs.  The combination of NewPage and SENA product lines created redundancies within some grade categories which, if unaddressed, may cause confusion for our customers.  We believe our customers will benefit from a solid, simplified and streamlined product offering, and this is our first step towards achieving that goal," said David Deger, vice president, marketing.

The NewPage No. 2 through No. 4 coated web product offerings are as follows:

- For No. 2 coated freesheet web products, NewPage will continue to offer both Sterling Ultra web and Productolith web in gloss, dull and matte finishes.

- Orion will be the premium No. 3 coated freesheet web offering in gloss, satin and matte finishes. Vision will continue to be offered as an economical No. 3 web product in gloss and velvet finishes, and now will have an enhanced shade.  Focus Plus will be discontinued.

- For No. 4 coated groundwood web products, NewPage will add lightweight and rotogravure capability to the Escanaba and Dependoweb brands along with a whiter shade. With these additions, NovaPress Advantage, PolarisPress and CapriPress are being discontinued.

- NewPage will continue to offer ArborWeb and ArborWeb Plus for environmentally conscious consumers and will add Dependoweb Arbor.  All Arbor products feature triple chain-of-custody certification (Forest Stewardship Council (FSC), Sustainable Forestry Initiative (SFI) and Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification (PEFC)) and 30% post-consumer recycled content.

"We are continuing to explore other opportunities to simplify our offerings to the marketplace. When decisions are made, we will communicate them promptly," stated David Deger.

The last date of shipment for Focus Plus, NovaPress Advantage, PolarisPress and CapriPress will be April 30, 2008.  Please contact a NewPage sales representative or visit our web site www.NewPageCorp.com for more details.
