Xitron Begins Shipping PRISM Short-run Digital Press

Press release from the issuing company

Ann Arbor, Michigan – March 19, 2007 – Xitron, the prepress industry's leading independent developer and integrator of Raster Image Processors, RIP management software and workflow solutions, today announced it has begun shipping its recently introduced PRISM short-run color digital press in North America following highly successful beta and dealer training programs. PRISM is an extremely productive LED based plain paper color digital press with significant features and capabilities to meet the tough demands of small to mid-size commercial and in-plant printers, including: - 36 pages per minute color output - Automated and manual duplex - Production ready Navigator GPS RIP offering multiple output device control and support - Flexible media support for multiple applications up to 12.9” x 47.24” on 100# cover media - Multi-system support allowing several PRISM engines to operate from a single RIP - Optional productivity enhancement tools including in-RIP imposition and PDF creation & preflighting - Low acquisition cost with no monthly minimums or “click” charges “The Xitron PRISM digital press helps small to mid-size printers to affordably capitalize on new business opportunities, providing them the ability to quickly produce high quality short run color jobs on an economical basis,” stated R. Patrick French, Vice President of Sales & Marketing for Xitron. “This should help printers tap markets where they might have previously had trouble competing.” The exceptional combination of Harlequin® RIP technology from Global Graphics Software, along with the popular RIP Manager workflow and plug-ins developed by Xitron, sets the PRISM apart from all other solutions in the market. Now, instead of each output device relying on separate (and possibly different) RIP technologies, Navigator GPS becomes the core interpreter for virtually all output. The results are predictable and reliable across all devices, including inkjet proofers, platesetters and direct imaging offset presses. Navigator’s RIP Manager enhances productivity and reduces errors through workflow automation. Using technology often found in expensive, high end workflow systems, the RIP Manager PDF Tools option automates PDF creation and job preflighting while further streamlining the entire production process. Based on industry standard Enfocus libraries, preflight profiles are customizable for individual production requirements. End user pricing for the Xitron PRISM begins at under $10,000, including the digital press and Xitron’s PRISM Navigator GPS Select workflow. And, for a limited time, customers who place PRISM orders for shipment by June 29, 2007 will also receive the integrated imposition option, a $1,000 value, at no charge. The imposition option provides automated in-RIP imposition with custom templates for common types of applications. Xitron products are available through a network of OEMs, distributors, dealers, and system Integrators worldwide. Xitron RIPs and workflow solutions drive more than 250 different output devices ranging from black and white and color proofers to film imagesetters and the latest in CTP and direct-to-press systems. With shipments of more than 14,000 RIPs, Xitron is the largest independent provider of RIPs in the market. For more information about Xitron products, visit Xitron on the web at www.xitron.com.
