February 13, 2007 – Boston, Massachusetts and Appenzell, Switzerland – GMC Software Technology, the New Standard in personalized communications, today announced the release of Version 3.3 of PrintNet PA software. Users benefit from browser-based print administration, system status checking via SNMP, and other capabilities that optimize print workflow. PrintNet PA is intelligent printing middleware for enterprise-wide output management and production automation. It is a single point of control and enables sophisticated job routing for efficient job and resource management. An important enhancement in this release of PrintNet PA is SNMP functionality. Users can now access PrintNet PA via SNMP to check on system status including printer device availability, jamming, out of toner or under repair. Via PrintNet PA SNMP queries, the administrator can also determine system features such as a stapler, high capacity tray, or duplex. Using intelligent routing and device polling, PrintNet PA can identify the most appropriate and available printer for particular jobs. To support the heterogeneous printing needs of today’s enterprises, PrintNet PA supports systems connected by JetDirect print servers. This brings PrintNet PA control to many network printers such as workgroup laser systems. Users can even set up groups of such devices to do the work equivalent to large production printers, in some cases. Security is a high priority for organizations today, extending to the information connected to their printing processes, and this release of PrintNet PA addresses these concerns. It can encrypt the communication path between server and client. If the print operation is being administered remotely, this important new capability ensures no outsider can tap into job status, job names, addresses or other print information on the server and threaten print security.
