Verso Paper Names Weyerhaeuser Exec. Mike Jackson President and CEO

MEMPHIS, Tenn.--Nov. 28, 2006--Verso Paper Holdings, LLC (Verso Paper) today announced the appointment of Mike Jackson as president and chief executive officer. He succeeds LH Puckett, who retired but will remain a member of the Verso Paper board of directors. Before joining Verso Paper, Jackson served as a senior vice president at Weyerhaeuser Company in Federal Way, Wash., where he was responsible for the Cellulose Fibers, White Papers, Newsprint and Liquid Packaging Board businesses. He also recently served as chairman of NORPAC, a joint venture between Weyerhaeuser and Nippon Paper in Japan. Prior to being named senior vice president in 2004, Jackson served as vice president, Fine Paper. Throughout his 29-year career at Weyerhaeuser, he contributed to the company's success in leadership roles in a number of other company businesses, including Packaging, Tri-wall, Recycling and Business Papers. "We are delighted to have an experienced senior executive with Mike's background join the Verso leadership team," said Scott Kleinman, chairman of the board of Verso Paper. "Mike's experience leading world-class paper and packaging businesses will be a great asset to Verso as we move forward as a new and focused coated paper company. In addition, I want to thank LH Puckett for his many contributions to Verso Paper and to wish him well in his retirement."
