COO for FedEx Kinko's Outlines Strategy

The comments were made in an exclusive interview with WhatTheyThink's Senior Editor Cary Sherburne. (See Today's Premium Content on www.WhatTheyThink.com) FedEx Kinko's is targeting both corporate and small business accounts with four different types of locations, which Philips describes in the interview. Not surprisingly, shipping plays a key role in all store formats, and the company is adding increased convenience office supply SKUs as well. "We are transitioning to a new model to make our centers more of a destination for small business and mobile professionals. Our goal is to become the back office for small business and the branch office for mid- to large-sized businesses, and there is lots of opportunity to create added value for these audiences," Philips said. In addition to print/copy, shipping and convenience office supplies, selected FedEx Kinko's stores will offer secure storage for parts and other materials as an extension of the FedEx logistics offerings.
