PIA/GATF: Call for Nominations, William D. Schaeffer Environmental Award

Pittsburgh, PA, November 13, 2006 - Printing Industries of America/Graphic Arts Technical Foundation (PIA/GATF) is seeking to honor someone who has made significant contributions towards environmentally sound practices in the printing industry. Nominations for the William D. Schaeffer Environmental Award are due December 1, 2006. Established in 1990, this award is named for environmental pioneer and researcher, Dr. William D. Schaeffer (1922-2003), who was known and widely respected for providing environmentally sound activities for the graphic communications industries and a rational perspective for those who develop environmental regulations for the industry. He directed the GATF Research Department activities for 20 years before retiring in 1989. The winner will be presented with an engraved plaque and will be honored before a prestigious group of industry leaders during the National Environmental Health and Safety (NEHS) Conference, March 12- 14, 2007, in Jacksonville, FL. Additionally, they will join an impressive roster of printing industry notables spanning 15 years. Past winners include Mark Flannery, J. Thomas Ravn, Marcia Kinter, Dale Kalina, Jeff Adrian, Walter Zerweck, David Johnson, Henry Rodriguez, Gerald Bonetto, and Frank C. Barnett.
