CIP4 Announces New Slate of Officers and Directors

Press release from the issuing company

Darmstadt, Germany (November 10, 2006) - The International Cooperation for the Integration of the Processes in Prepress, Press and Postpress (CIP4) organization announced today the results of its 2006 elections for advisory board members and officers on its board of directors. CIP4's Advisory Board is the organization's governing body. The Advisory Board consists of representatives of each of three classes of members; partner, full and associate. There are 14 partner members of CIP4 and roughly 150 full and associate members of CIP4. Partner members automatically have one seat on the Advisory Board, but full and associate members are represented by Advisory Board directors that are elected with a simple majority and any representative of a member company from each class is eligible to be nominated for an open Advisory Board seat. Advisory Board members representing the full membership class are: * Martin Bailey, Global Graphics * Elena Skobchenko, Dr. Lauterbach & Partner GmbH * Matthew Outram, Fujifilm Electronic Imaging * Jacques Thiebauld, Dalim Software * Henny van Esch, Optimus * Gerd van Gils, DiMS! organizing print * David Watson, Ultimate Technographics Inc. The associate membership class has a deeply discounted level of dues and is restricted to companies that do not develop software and systems for the graphic arts. This class consists of companies such as printers, prepress services, publishers, consultants, educational institutions, integrators and others. Advisory Board members representing the associate membership class are: * Stephan Jaeggi, PrePress Consulting * James Mekis, NPES * Janice Reese, Network PDF Inc Once the new Advisory Board took over on October 26th, their first task was to elect a new Board of Directors. The Board servers as an executive committee and consists of CIP4's CEO, Technical Officer, Membership Officer, Finance Officer, Education & Marketing Officer, and Executive Director. Martin Bailey has served as CIP4's CEO since its inception in 2000 and is a widely recognized industry leader. Mr. Bailey planned in advance of this year's election to step down from the CEO position. Margaret Motamed of EFI, CIP4's Education & Marketing Officer since 2003 was elected to take over the CEO position. This left the Education & Marketing Officer's position vacant (all other officers on the Board are continuing in positions on the Board) and Mark Wilton of Kodak was elected by the Advisory Board to take over from Ms. Motamed. Mr. Wilton has been active in the Education & Marketing Committee and is the Marketing Chair and Administrator for NGP. "When CIP4 first started out there were not many people in the industry that could have taken the helm of the organization and create the level of cooperation that development of the JDF Specification has required," said Executive Director, James Harvey. "I've worked with Martin on other standards activities in the 1990's and I've seen that he is uniquely trusted by folks that otherwise are fierce competitors. He is outstanding at creating consensus and breaking logjams, and is always fair. It was beginning to look like Martin would never be able to step down, but that time has come." "Margaret Motamed has been involved in all aspects of CIP4's operations," said Bailey. "She understands the technology of JDF, she's been involved with budgeting, and has tackled some of the fairly dry administrative issues, as well as serving as CIP4's Education & Marketing Officer. In that capacity, she has taken JDF from being a little known industry standard that was perceived to be a European standard that was just for programmers to a standard that is known to everyone in the industry and that most printers identify as a technology that is key to their future. By that measure, I believe she will be an outstanding CEO." All Advisory Board and Board of Director positions are open for elections every other year.
