RoboCatalog Launches Globally Distributed Production System for Print Service Providers & Publishers

Monday, October 16, 2006

Press release from the issuing company

Chicago, 10/15/2006 – Michael Kieran, president of RoboCatalog, today announced RoboCatalog OnDemand, the first globally distributed production system for catalogs and other data-driven publications. RoboCatalog OnDemand is a complete layout automation system for catalogs, merchandising guides, and other visually sophisticated, data-driven publications. It includes a page-based metering system that enables printers, marketing agencies and other service providers to host their customers’ product data and images, while providing automated page layout via the included RoboCatalog Builder and RoboCatalog Manager modules. Two key factors distinguish RoboCatalog OnDemand: – It enables product managers, page layout artists, photo studios, prepress shops and printers to work on publications collaboratively, regardless of their location; – It empowers printers as RoboCatalog service providers to tighten their relationships with catalog publishers. “With RoboCatalog OnDemand , commercial printers and graphic arts service providers can increase their revenues and bond more tightly with their customers,” said Mr. Kieran. Each RoboCatalog Service Provider is free to set their own pricing for access to these powerful publishing tools (on a per-page basis), either to recover costs or as a profit center. End users have secure Web-based access to their images (and only their images), via the Xinet WebNative Venture asset manager, which has been integrated directly into RoboCatalog OnDemand . “Our software connects the RoboCatalog Service Provider to their customer every time a new publication is created”, said Mr. Kieran, “and is flexible enough to handle any imaginable imaging and page layout workflow. For the first time, powerful page automation tools that were previously available only to the largest catalogers, can now be used by medium-sized and smaller publishers by working through a RoboCatalog Service Provider.” RoboCatalog OnDemand runs on the Apple Xserve platform, and is available directly from RoboCatalog or from its authorized reseller, IO Integration of San Francisco (iointegration.com).
