New Oce PRISMA Software Maximizes Functionality of Latest Oce Color Printing Solutions

Press release from the issuing company

Boca Raton, FL-August 23, 2006 -- Oce, a global leader in digital document management and delivery solutions, announces new releases of Océ PRISMA workflow software--Océ TrueProof 2.10 and Océ PRISMAproduction 3.10--to support expanded Océ Job Appropriate Color solutions, including Océ VarioStream 9230 3/3 printing. Other enhancements contribute to more integrated production workflows to help customers reduce costs, simplify management, and capture more color printing business. Further productivity and cost improvements are possible as Océ TrueProof eliminates the need for hardware dedicated only to proofing or for interrupting production printing operations for proofing. "Océ's strategy is to constantly innovate and improve product capabilities to keep pace with customers' evolving needs. These latest enhancements reflect the growing adoption of Job Appropriate Color and the expansion of Océ VarioStream 9000 capabilities delivering on our market commitment. These comprehensive workflow solutions and the enhanced Océ VarioStream 9000 platform help customers achieve breakthrough performance that drives greater productivity and profit," said Joyce Virnich, Vice President of Marketing, Océ Digital Document Systems. New Support for Electronic Proofing for 3/3 Applications Océ TrueProof 2.10 includes electronic proofing for 3/3 color-capable systems like the new Océ VarioStream 9230. Electronic proofing eliminates the cost of downtime, consumables, personnel and setup for hardcopy proof prints. Now users can have an exact 3/3 press proof without halting production printing just to generate a few hardcopy proofs. Online electronic proofing also makes a dedicated cut sheet proofing printer unnecessary. Océ TrueProof is the only product on the market that offers pixel-precise proofing with front and back registration for an exact replica of output as it will print. In-house users can proof work before outsourcing or sending jobs to their CRD group. Application programmers and designers can save a job as a PDF and email it to customers, resulting in greater convenience and faster approval cycles. Océ TrueProof output can even be used as a signature proof. Océ PRISMAproduction Gains 3/3 Support and Tighter Workflow Integration Océ PRISMAproduction software has been enhanced to support 3/3 (two colors plus black duplexed) workflow for the Océ VarioStream 9230. A new "Oceans" graphical user interface allows customized workspaces for different users to facilitate greater ease of use and functionality. For example, the GUI can be set up for specific tasks assigned to an operator or for an administrator requiring security access. The latest version of Océ PRISMAproduction software allows tighter integration into the most complex production environments. Release 3.10 is JDF-capable and provides JMF feedback, ensuring compatibility for operations using these standards to drive workflow across devices. UP3i support has been expanded to include additional pre- and post-processing devices, giving operations more flexibility within their production workflow. Océ PRISMAproduction and Océ TrueProof work together to improve workflow for customers using any member of the expanded Océ VarioStream and Océ VarioPrint families, as well as non-Océ devices. Océ PRISMAproduction works with Océ and non-Océ equipment, so users can manage the entire print shop from a single point of control. DigiPath connectivity is now available for Xerox DigiPath Versions 3 and 4, plus older versions streamlining workflow. CIS is integrated within Océ PRISMAproduction instead of at the mainframe to allow converting, sorting and indexing of AFP print files closer to production workflow. Users can now add bar codes, UP3i finishing commands, and many other workflow elements without referring back to CIS on a mainframe. New SQL-based database access simplifies accounting processes so users can establish more accurate decision-making practices. Previously, accounting information was contained in a separate file, requiring users to extract and import data to a spreadsheet. Now in addition to Excel, managers can use Crystal Reports, MS Access, and other popular applications. Users can build and access their own queries for reporting or use preconfigured report formats. In addition to 3/3 highlight color support, the new Océ PRISMAproduction release enhances grayscale printing to meet specific requirements of technical and medical documentation as well as other applications. The crispness of black and white images is sharper, and granularity is reduced, resulting in exceptional image quality. As a result, printers can more confidently take on applications that require absolute image clarity.
