Baumfolder selects Objective Advantage to JDF enable ifold

Press release from the issuing company

Houston, TEXAS. 07.27.2006 -- Objective Advantage, Inc (OA) has been selected by US based post press equipment manufacturer Baumfolder Corporation, to JDF-enable its new series of ifold and AutoSet Baum floor-model folders. Graphic arts specialist software developers OA will develop and integrate a JDF interface into the Baum ifold system, enabling it to work with its own OASymbio web-enabled range of production management tools, as well as other JDF-enabled prepress and MIS systems. OASymbio is a suite of tools that use PDF and JDF standards to automate production, providing a fully web-enabled end-to-end production management workflow. ifold is Baum’s tutorial interface software system that provides all the information needed to setup, operate, maintain and troubleshoot many of Baum’s folding equipment. “After seeing OASymbio demonstrated at OnDemand, we realized the value of being a part of a fully integrated workflow and knew it was time to get ifold JDF-enabled,” said Robert Kinson, VP of Engineering and Quality at Baumfolder. Adding this JDF capability to ifold will enhance its value by reducing even further the workload involved in setting up and running the folding systems. Upstream systems such as certain prepress and MIS packages can generate folding instructions written in JDF. Using this data to set up the folder will help speed production and reduce the wasted time and materials in make-ready. With short-run jobs becoming the norm rather than the exception, smoothing the flow of work through production is crucial. OA has proven its expertise in the field of JDF integration through similar projects and is excited by this latest opportunity to work with Baumfolder Corporation. “We are pleased to be able to assist Baum by leveraging our knowledge of JDF and existing infrastructure tools,” commented Gareth O’Brien, CEO of OA. “We are very happy to be able to make ifold capable of working as part of the OASymbio end-to-end production solution, which will add additional productivity efficiencies for Baum’s customers.” ifold will be demonstrated along with OASymbio Desktop on the Baumfolder Stand, #2606, at Graph Expo 2006.
