Multi-Color Celebrates Its 90th Anniversary

Press release from the issuing company

CINCINNATI, July 6 -- Multi-Color Corporation, a premier global resource in decorating solutions and packaging services, is celebrating 90 years of growth and innovation. Founded in 1916 as a manufacturer of printing presses, the company changed its focus a few years later when the Wm. Wrigley Jr. Company asked Multi-Color to produce labels instead of selling them a new press. Multi-Color decided to do just that, and it proved to be a turning point for changing its business from equipment manufacture to label printing. Today, Multi-Color is one of the largest and most diversified label producers, with nine major facilities throughout the United States - and Wrigley is still a valued customer. Responding to customer requests with innovative solutions became a tradition with Multi-Color. The company has developed numerous patents and unique process technologies and currently offers the latest in in-mold, heat transfer, shrink sleeve, pressure sensitive and cut-and-stack labeling solutions. Among the innovations: transparent film in-mold labels, in-mold coupon labels, peel and reseal labels, frosted shrink labels, flameless heat transfer labels, and laser-imaged gravure printing cylinders. Anticipating market needs is what Multi-Color does best. As consumer products companies look for the last possible point of differentiation, Multi- Color introduced flameless and ink-only heat transfer labeling technologies. These are replacing conventional applied ceramic labeling (ACL) with advanced capabilities such as process color and an acid etch look on glass - without the high cost and environmental impact of the acid etch process. Flameless heat transfer eliminates the need for flame treating and opens the possibilities for decorating right off the fill line. Multi-Color provides a consultative solutions approach. From brand and packaging strategies, to design support, label production and application to containers; and a packaging services group, Quick Pak, that assembles and distributes special promotional packaging and displays. "We're a comprehensive resource that enables consumer brand marketers to bring game-changing packaging power to their retail channels," said Frank Gerace, president and chief executive officer of the publicly held Multi-Color Corporation. "Our patented technologies and processes are revolutionizing the way decorating is done, speeding packaging solutions to market while also driving down costs. We are delighted to celebrate 90 years of service to our customers and shareholders," he added.
