Kodak Expands Capabilities of Check Processing Solution with New Scanners, Archive Software

Press release from the issuing company

PHILADELPHIA, May 16 -- Your paper check may soon go digital thanks to the Check 21 Act. Industry expectations cite more than half of the checks written in the U.S. will be electronically processed and, thus, clearing faster during 2007. To meet these growing needs, Eastman Kodak Company is adding two high-speed check scanners, secure web based archiving software and a new version of its image capture and transmission software to its Check Imaging Solutions portfolio. The KODAK i6060 and i6090 Check Scanners and KODAK t6000 Server Software for Image Archive Applications join the KODAK i6030 Check Scanner, image capture and transmission software, and a host of support and service options. The expanded portfolio improves the management, archiving and communication of payment-related information, leading to accelerated clearance of payments and reductions in costs associated with check processing for businesses, government agencies and banks. The federal Check Clearing for the 21st Century Act, known as Check 21, removed barriers to electronic check processing, setting the stage for checks to clear—and money to be moved—in a matter of hours instead of days. “Banks, businesses, and government offices have compelling reasons to implement an imaging solution that captures deposits or payments remotely. These solutions are of strategic importance to growth and efficiency for these organizations,” said Andy Lawrence, Worldwide Solutions Business Manager, Document Imaging, Graphic Communications Group. “A complete solution not only converts paper checks into digital images at the point of presentment but also manages the transmission of those images and keeps them accessible—any time and any place. Kodak, an industry leader and digital innovator in document imaging worldwide, is the right company to partner with in implementing strategic initiatives involving this technology.” The newest additions to Kodak’s Check Imaging Solutions portfolio can greatly assist in this process with: •Two new scanners. The KODAK i6060 and i6090 Check Scanners maintain the same small footprint of the KODAK i6030 but with dramatically higher speeds. The i6060 scans up to 65 documents per minute with a maximum 5,000 transactions per day while the i6090 scans up to 100 documents per minute with a maximum daily volume of 7,500. The applications for this portfolio of check scanners span from point of sale or corporate location to back office capture processing environments. •Image Archive Software. KODAK t6000 Server Software for Image Archive Applications directly imports checks and associated index data created by the t6000 Client Software or the KODAK t6000 Server Software for Transaction Applications. Archiving of bitonal or color documents such as signature cards, loan documents or documents up to 8.5” x 25” or 11” x 17” can also be done. The software offers configurable hierarchical storage management and supports browser-based query and retrieval. •Capture and Transmission Software. The newest release of the KODAK t6000 Client Software for Transaction Applications and KODAK t6000 Server Software for Corporate or Financial Transaction Centers significantly enhances features such as data extraction, security, integration and overall ease of use of the solution. Rounding out the portfolio, Kodak offers professional services that support the smooth delivery of the product into a customer’s environment—including site inspections, installation of hardware and software, consulting services, software customization, and product training. Additionally, there are a variety of service agreement offerings, delivered by KODAK Service & Support, the benchmark service provider for the document imaging industry. The new scanners, software, and services will be available through Kodak’s Premier Solutions Resellers this month.
