Group 1 Software Announces Joint Releases of DOC1 and e2

Press release from the issuing company

LANHAM, Md., May 17 -- Group 1 Software, Inc., a Pitney Bowes Company today announced major releases of its Customer Communication Management Platform. DOC1 version 5.3, enhances an organization's ability to quickly build and deliver highly personalized customer communications across the enterprise, and e2(TM) version 5.3 provides web presentment, online account management, customer service and document retrieval. The wide range of enhancements focus on improved performance, enhanced functionality and robust internationalization, while continuing to improve on the solid interoperability of the solution suite. Demonstrating the company's commitment to localization of its products across the globe, this release of DOC1 Designer and its associated user material is translated for seven additional languages including: simplified Chinese, Korean, Japanese, unified Spanish, French, German and Brazilian- Portuguese. Functionally, both DOC1 and the e2(TM) suite are UNICODE and DBCS-enabled to fully support the text and localization requirements of the Asia-Pacific region. DOC1 and the e2(TM) suite are the only fully internationalized document composition and electronic document management systems for this developing world market. "Group 1 is the premiere enterprise class Customer Communications Management vendor offering fully localized products providing value to both regional and multinational corporations," said Alan Slater, President of Group 1 Software International. "This release underscores the commitment and enthusiasm to growing our international business through our DOC1 and e2(TM) portfolio of products and solutions," Slater said. Additionally, DOC1 V5.3 introduces significant enhancements to keyed objects that allow images and business logic to be referenced dynamically according to variable data. This makes publication designs much more flexible and allows users to include external resources from other content management systems in addition to those directly available to the DOC1 Design Workstation. The power of this capability enables users of all types to variably and conditionally embed simple objects like images, as well as being able to make use of complex sub-publications. Other enhancements to DOC1 5.3 include two new output drivers: an enhanced version of the HTML driver provides a format specifically intended for e-mail distribution and a new RTF driver, which enables composed documents to be edited within popular word processing programs. Group 1 Software's DOC1 Selected by Chevy Chase Bank Using DOC1, Chevy Chase Bank, a leading financial services institution, plans to design, produce, maintain and deliver sophisticated, fully customized customer financial communications that clarify investment performance, market financial planning and reflect the total client relationship while meeting critical business requirements for speed to market, cost effectiveness and flexibility. "DOC1 provides a powerful infrastructure that helps leading financial organizations differentiate themselves in a competitive marketplace," said Robert Spicer, EVP and CIO of Chevy Chase Bank. "In addition, having a partner, like Group 1, that can step up to help Chevy Chase with a sophisticated application like our Statement Select, as well as systems management and installation issues, is of critical importance. It was exactly for these reasons that we selected Group 1 and not another vendor," Spicer said. Key Enhancements to Group 1 Software's e2(TM) Solution Suite Group 1 Software's e2(TM) Vault, a high performance repository that scales to support web presentment, online account management, customer service and historic document archival applications, is now available on Sun Solaris and Linux to meet high availability enterprise system requirements. A seamless migration is guaranteed for existing e2(TM) customers who wish to migrate from their current Windows environment to a UNIX platform. The e2(TM) Mobile Vault, a portable, fully self-contained document Vault and viewer that can be distributed electronically or on any storage media, such as DVD and CD as a means of providing fully functional and self-contained access to hundreds of thousands of high value documents, is also available for Solaris/Linux environments. The complete e2(TM) Suite (Vault, Service, Present, and Online Account Management) is available on both Sun Solaris and Windows platforms. The e2(TM) Suite now incorporates all the functionality of an interactive customer self-service system to offer a single, integrated solution that provides both rapid deployment as well as complex online account management on a single platform. The e2(TM) Query module, which allows users to mine and extract data from printstreams for analysis and to repurpose within other applications, is also available to web users.
