GAMIS Commissions Study of Digital Color Wide Format Printing

ALEXANDRIA, VA (January 17, 2002) – The Graphic Arts Marketing Information Service (GAMIS) of the Printing Industries of America recently commissioned PrintCom Consulting Group (Waxhaw, NC) to provide a "Study and Analysis of Digital Color Wide Format Printing." Digital color wide format printing for the purpose of this study is defined as devices capable of outputting final product 24 inches wide or wider. The primary objective of the GAMIS study is to provide members with an understanding of the digital color wide format printing market, including an overview of the technologies in use, characteristics of the major market segments, identification and discussion of emerging growth markets and applications and overall trends shaping the North American market through the 2005 timeframe. Among other items, the study will: * Identify the types of output providers and those that are likely to succeed in the various areas of market applications. * Determine drivers and barriers for entry into wide format digital graphics with a review of the costs of market and process entry. * Provide an overview of the various technologies and substrates in use and their applications, strengths, and weaknesses. * Provide market size estimates and forecasts for hardware/software, media, ink/toner and auxiliary devices.
