Group 1 Software Enhances Address Quality Capabilities in End-to-End Mailstream Solutions With 4-State Barcodes

Press release from the issuing company

LANHAM, Md., April 3 -- Group 1 Software, Inc., a Pitney Bowes Company today announced the enhancement of 4-State barcodes in their end-to-end mailstream solutions for large-volume mailers. The address quality enhancements comply with the latest U.S. Postal Service (USPS) OneCode(TM) initiatives and will help mailers raise address quality, maximize postal discounts and improve mail deliverability through the USPS' Intelligent Mail program. Group 1 Software's address quality enhancements include the integration of 4-State barcodes and support the OneCode initiative at every stage of the mail production process, from initial address cleansing and coding, to barcode production, through the tracking of mail. With the enhanced address quality capabilities, mailers can use the one-code technology to help uniquely identify their mail and gain end-to-end visibility into the USPS' mailstream to better manage their business processes and resources, and reduce costs. "We are pleased to support the USPS' OneCode Vision(TM) with a more comprehensive, end-to-end approach," said Kurt Konow, vice president, Product Management of Group 1 Software. "The 4-State barcodes are fully integrated into our mailstream solutions, giving mailers greater flexibility to add the standardized, information-rich codes to their customer data and communications at multiple touch points throughout the entire mail production process. The address quality enhancements help enable customers to improve address quality, distinctively track and trace their mail, and capture real-time information about each mail piece for even more effective and efficient management of their mailstreams." Group 1 provides a suite of mailstream offerings that support the OneCode ACS(TM). At the front-end of the mail production process are the Finalist and CODE-1 Plus address quality solutions which verify, standardize and correct addresses, and append postal codes, and the VeriMove(TM) Move Update solution which identifies addresses of recent move. At the preparation and presort stage is the MailStream Plus presort solution, which prepares and sorts mailing lists according to USPS standards for every class of mail. At the center of the post-processing phase is the StreamWeaver print stream engineering solution which enables print streams to be changed and enhanced without interrupting document processing operations. At the back-end is OnRoute(TM) mail tracking solutions, which uniquely identify and track mail pieces from induction to delivery and capture real-time information about each mail piece. The 4-State barcodes in Group 1 Software's solutions will be enabled and usable in conjunction with the release of the upcoming USPS' OneCode ACS. Attendees of the National Postal Forum in Orlando, Florida are able to see demonstrations of Group 1's full suite of mailing efficiency solutions at the Pitney Bowes booth (#1418) through April 5, 2006.
