Ultimate will demonstrate a JDF prepress workflow with Quark and Dalim at IPEX

Press release from the issuing company

Montreal, Canada, March 22, 2006 Ultimate Technographics Inc, the leading imposition software developer and the inventor of digital imposition, will be demonstrating a live JDF workflow with Quark and Dalim at IPEX. The demonstration will show JDF working from document creation to pre-press workflow that will take the JDF imposition instructions to create complete digital plates for print production. This demonstration will be in the JDF Pavilion, April 4-11, in Birmingham England. Ultimate, Quark and Dalim are members of CIP4, and they along with many other companies will be showing working JDF workflow demonstrations. Step 1 - Preparation of imposition templates. From the Ultimate Technographics pod, visitors will be able to see how generic imposition templates are prepared and exported as JDF imposition templates by Impostrip, using hot folder automation. Ultimate will also show how JDF from MIS systems can be imported into Impostrip to create imposition templates that are exported. Ultimate will show how to re-impose JDF templates into new JDF templates for duplex imposition proofs. At the Dalim Software pod, these templates can be seen as a list of available JDF imposition templates with DALiM MiSTRAL and DALiM PRiNTEMPO. These templates can be automatically associated to the job ticket when a job is created. Step 2 - Content Creation in QuarkXPress 7 On the Quark pod, visitors will be able to see how content creators can use Quark Job Jackets to set up and manage their projects, in preparation for output. The information in the Job Jacket is embedded in the QuarkXPress file, but can also be exported as a JDF ticket which can be sent to the printing company along with the output file. Step 3 - DALiM MiSTRAL / DALiM PRiNTEMPO The PDF files created by QuarkXPress 7 are sent to a DALiM MiSTRAL or DALiM PRINTEMPO premedia server, whereupon the files are preflighted and normalised (prepared and optimised for the print process). At any time during the job's production cycle, the operator can assign a JDF imposition template to the job. At which point the DALiM MiSTRAL or DALiM PRINTEMPO system will instantly generate the imposed signatures, based upon the JDF imposition description, ready for output to the RIP. “Ultimate will be showing a variety of JDF enabled programs in their latest versions,” explains Joanne David, Executive Vice President of Ultimate. “Ultimate has the only JDF imposition solution that is client/server with Dynamic Template hot folder automation. Users can prepare their imposition jobs at multiple workstations, in prepress, production planning or estimating.” Ultimate will be showing the following new JDF enabled production tools: •Impostrip 8.2 with unlimited clients with the first free form ganging tool for JDF workflow. •Impostrip MIS Connect converts JDF from MIS systems to prepare the imposition templates. •Impostrip On Demand Digital 5.0, the only imposition software designed for digital printing now supports JDF output. •Impostrip Proof 1.5 takes JDF input from any imposition or workflow software and creates a digital blue line proof to be output on duplex laser printers. •Impostrip Ink Ready 1.0 generates and displays CIP4 PPF for ink density control. It will provide an ink zone report for presses that do not have PPF input. It will also preview PPF ink data from any workflow.
