Meredith-Webb enlarging its business base with a new ROLAND 900 XXL 63-inch press

Press release from the issuing company

Burlington, North Carolina - Meredith-Webb, a commercial printing company with services ranging from direct mail to packaging, is adding a new 63-inch ROLAND 900 XXL to its fleet of four MAN Roland presses. The objective: to offer new opportunities to its customers and enlarge its business base. Scheduled to begin producing this spring, the extra, extra large machine is a six-color model with inline coating. "We've had a 30-year relationship with MAN Roland," says Kelly Webb, Executive VP. "Our new ROLAND 900 XXL is the next step in that profitable partnership." Expanding Experience Meredith-Webb is very familiar with the strategy of using larger presses to increase its yields and grow its profits. The company has been running a 56-inch MAN Roland six-color with coating and UV abilities for four years, much to the delight of its customers. "It's a great piece of machinery - a well manufactured press that performs extremely well," Webb notes. "Whether it's printing units or press electronics, the capabilities of the press or the size of the units, MAN Roland delivers. They've shown us that the XXL format is something that could enhance the way we do business. They bring us the equipment enhancements we need to better serve our market place." Technology Drives Growth That technological support has helped Meredith-Webb grow into one of the Southeast's premiere commercial printing facilities since its founding over 50 years ago. Clients of the family owned and operated facility range from ad agencies to pharmaceutical companies and agribusiness firms. Meredith-Webb promotes its technological edge to build sales and differentiate itself from the rest of the pack. "There is no other printing company like this one," it declares on its website - www.meredithwebb.com. "The key difference is an exceptional commitment to being the first to offer clients the capabilities of new equipment and technologies." A ROLAND 700 eight-color with a perfector and coater and a ROLAND 700 eight-color with a double coater complete the Meredith-Webb pressroom. Both are networked with the company's other presses via printnet, MAN Roland's press operating, automation and networking system. Networked Productivity "printnet has enhanced our job setups considerably," Webb notes. "Being able to setup the press in advance speeds up makeready. Plus printnet gives us the flexibility to move jobs between presses, so we can meet customer deadlines while maximizing the use of our MAN Roland presses." The new ROLAND 900 XXL will join the network after its installation this month. Meredith-Webb press crews have received PowerPrinters training from MAN Roland, so they already know how to make the most of the automated features that are built into the press. On-site instruction is part of the installation package, covering the unique capabilities of the new press. "The key is good interaction with the demonstrator/trainer," Webb relates. "That good chemistry makes sure you're up and running fast." Expert installation and follow-up service are also on Meredith-Webb's list of requirements. "We've had a good partnership with MAN Roland service," Webb says. "If the service wasn't there, we would not have continued with just one press manufacturer."
