Emmerich Newspapers Chooses CC1's eXaminer Automatic Register Control System

Press release from the issuing company

CC1, Inc., the premier provider of digital Automatic Register Control, Web Video, Register Motorization, and Pre-Registration solutions for the web offset market, is announcing the installation of its eXaminer Automatic Register Control systems at the Greenville, Mississippi plant of Emmerich Newspapers, a Mississippi publisher of 25 community newspapers. The CC1 system was installed in late 2005 on the plant’s Goss Urbanite four-unit, two-stacked web press. CC1’s eXaminer is the most advanced and effective automatic register control for four-color newsprint available today. “The CC1 system has worked well at our installation in Greenville, significantly improving registration consistency and reducing waste,” says Wyatt Emmerich, President of Emmerich Newspapers. “It was simply impossible for our press crew to move side and circumferencial motors for all colors rapidly enough to keep registration accurate.” Growing use of color Emmerich cites the growing use of color in the newspapers and the need to produce advertisements with the highest quality possible as one of the primary reasons for the installation of the CC1 eXaminer Automatic Register Control. “We are seeing the use of more and more color,” he says. “We are now doing process color on both sides of the web and our paper has never looked better. This helps us to increase our savings because we don’t have to refund advertisers for poor quality ads. The CC1 eXaminer is an efficient, cost effective way of significantly improving process color on newsprint. We look forward to installing a second system on the other side of our press.” The eXaminer Automatic Register Control System from CC1, Inc. provides accurate and consistent automatic control of four-color register (running and sidelay) throughout the press run including start/stops, splices and plate changes. The eXaminer features: * Automatic Pre-Positioning of color and cut- off compensators for web path changes; * Automatic Color Register Control to maintain fast and consistent print register quality throughout speed changes, after splices, web breaks, go-downs, and immediate re-establishing of register after edition or plate changes; * Full and/or Lateral register motorization is available. Quicker re-start, less stress “The automation on the CC1 eXaminer system provides quicker re-start on press and less stress for our press operators,” states Emmerich. “When we have a web break, we’re able to re-start the press much faster because the CC1 system is like a ‘pressman in a box’! With 16 motors moving on press per lead, it is beyond a human’s ability to quickly and effectively manage them all. It is a system that easily pays for itself.” Emmerich was also pleased with the system’s easy installation. “I expected it to be an installation nightmare, given the complexity of the motors, the optics and the computers, but in fact everything went smoothly and the system worked from the minute we turned it on. It was the easiest equipment installation we’ve ever had,” says Emmerich.
