Rochester Institute of Technology, world renowned as the leader in print-media education, has received a $9,500 grant from the Alcoa Foundation through its subsidiary, Southern Graphics Systems. This is the second grant this year awarded to RIT's School of Print Media by the Alcoa Foundation, which will help finance the purchase of equipment for the school's ink formulation and testing laboratory. The equipment will be used in Material and Processes I and II. The laboratory-centered courses teach students the fundamentals of substrates, inks and printing processes. "We thank the Alcoa Foundation for its continuing support," says Scott Williams, associate professor of imaging chemistry and physics in the School of Print Media. "Alcoa focuses on enabling education in science and technology, and we are grateful Alcoa recognizes RIT's commitment to its students in the science of graphic arts." Rochester Institute of Technology's School of Print Media, considered among the best of its kind in the world, offers undergraduate programs in graphic media and new media publishing, and a graduate program in print media.
