PRINT 05 Sees New Solutions Based On The Harlequin RIP Genesis Release

Press release from the issuing company

Chicago, IL, September 9th, 2005: A wide range of digital prepress and commercial printing products based on Global Graphics technology are on show at Print 05. Thirty Global Graphics customers are exhibiting their latest industry leading applications and several are unveiling new solutions based on the Genesis Release of the Harlequin RIP, introduced earlier this year by Global Graphics. This latest evolution of the Harlequin RIP brings increased efficiency and productivity to Harlequin RIP-based solutions and offers important new features for print operations of all sizes including: native compatibility with PDF 1.5; an advanced font emulation capability for time critical applications such as newspapers and print-on-demand; simple in-RIP imposition for two-up conventional printing and digital print; support for PDF/X-1a:2003 and PDF/X-3:2003 and the JDF 1.2 specification; and, improved color management. Xitron (booth # 6339) is unveiling Navigator GPS, an integrated product combining the highly productive Navigator RIP with the new Navigator RIP Manager. This tight integration gives prepress operators RIP management from workstations on their network. Navigator RIP Manager, available for both the Mac and PC, greatly enhances the standalone Navigator RIP, adding the ability to create job workflows that include PDF creation, preflighting and on-screen soft proofing. Compose Systems (booth # 7930) is showing ExpressRIP with the JDF-Enabler developed by Global Graphics and compliant with published JDF 1.2 specification and with level 2 of CIP4's Base Interoperability Conformance Specification. Also on show is Compose Express WorkFlow that ensures tight integration and smooth data delivery between all the processes in a prepress workflow, as well as Star Proof a dot for dot ROOM digital contract proofing solution with integrated Harlequin RIP option. HighWater (booth # 0631) is launching a new metal platesetter, Cobra, a new 2-up high speed CtP system which images to violet metal plates. Cobra is driven by the Torrent RIP v7,based on the Harlequin RIP Genesis Release. Cobra users will benefit from 30 plates per hour, clean, first generation dots and reduced make ready times. The Python 4-up CTP system, driven by the Torrent RIP v.7, will also be on display. Polkadots Software (booth # 6139) is demonstrating PrePage-it 5, a major upgrade to this flagship workflow product, running with the Genesis Release and using JDF. PrePage-it 5 provides a new interface for fast and simple workflow configuration and a database driven, client server architecture ensuring speed and automation. A JDF implementation of Fold-It, an automated digital blueline proofing system for book and catalogue printers, will be demonstrated. Harlequin Print Production Manager Print 05 is also the venue for the launch of Harlequin Print Production Manager (Harlequin PPM), a simplified process control and job management solutions for small and medium size print operations. Harlequin PPM simplifies the management of a print job from the moment the file is submitted, via a print driver or a Hot Folder, to its progress through the Harlequin RIP and on to the output device. ECRM (booth #8551), Presstek (booth #6112) and Polkadots (booth# 6139) are all debuting products based on Harlequin PPM (for details see separate press release.)
