SMART Papers Expands Marketing Group

Press release from the issuing company

HAMILTON, Ohio--May 9, 2005-- SMART Papers today said it is expanding its marketing group with the hiring of Margaret "Peg" Meyer as Marketing Manager. Meyer most recently served as Marketing Manager for Wausau Paper, where she worked closely with North American designers, printers, corporate ad agencies and paper merchants. Meyer reports to SMART Papers Marketing Director Tom Kleimeyer. With the addition of Meyer, the expanded SMART Papers marketing team will bring new promotions, print demonstrations and sales tools to customers, said Kleimeyer. "Peg is a seasoned marketer who deeply understands the power of print in a fast-evolving communications marketplace," Kleimeyer said. "That's important, but she also knows our customers and products thoroughly. She will help us advance our brands and deliver the tools, information and support designers, printers and merchants need today." The appointment follows SMART Papers' recent addition of nine new paper brands to its portfolio of premium cast coated, matte coated and uncoated papers. SMART Papers in February acquired the Midwest papermaking operations of Fraser Papers and its text, cover and commercial printing paper brands. They joined the SMART Papers family of brands including Knightkote Matte, Carnival, SMART Digital, Benefit and the legendary Kromekote. Meyer served at Wausau for six years directing brand strategy and helping that mill become a more viable player in the design and high-end commercial printing markets. She said she joined SMART Papers because of its respected brands, its sharp focus on customer needs and its entrepreneurial spirit. "Working closely with designers, printers and merchants has allowed me to intimately understand our customers' needs and how paper companies can better help them with their jobs," Meyer explained. "SMART Papers intends to be a preferred resource for them, not just in paper sourcing but in key aspects of specification, creative and print production." Prior to her tenure at Wausau, Meyer worked for Martin Williams Advertising, Minneapolis, where she worked in print production for brands including Pillsbury, Coleman, US Bank and others. Before that, she worked in various marketing and print production roles for Target Corporation. Meyer has a B.A. in business administration with a marketing and economics specialty from the College of St. Catherine, St. Paul, Minnesota. She is a member of the American Institute of Graphic Arts. She has studied at Rochester Institute of Technology's School of Printing Management and Sciences as well as the Quad Graphics print school. Her creative work has garnered scores of national and regional awards including American Graphic Design Awards, AIGA Design Show of Excellence, Printing Industries of America and others.
