Friday, May 06, 2005

Press release from the issuing company

May 5, 2005 -- PRIMIR was created from the merger of the Market Research Committee of NPES The Association for Suppliers of Printing, Publishing and Converting Technologies and the Graphic Arts Marketing Information Service (GAMIS). Its mission is to streamline the planning and execution of vital industry research.  At www.primir.org, visitors will find a complete listing of PRIMIR members and descriptions of studies scheduled for completion during 2005.  PRIMIR is also offering recently completed studies from both NPES and GAMIS for sale through the site. The site also provides Frequently Asked Questions and information about upcoming PRIMIR meetings.  The site has a members-only area where PRIMIR members can access a member contact directory and a variety of other documents available exclusively to members of the organization. PRIMIR’S most recent completed studies are: - The Package Printing and Converting, An Industry Assessment: 2004-2009, which looked at both the overall converting and packaging printing industry and its four principal components: corrugated packaging, folding carton, flexible packaging and tag/label production. - Integrated Automation in the Commercial Printing Industry.  This project queried printers involved in automation programs to find out what they are doing and how it has worked.  It identifies the process, bottlenecks, drivers and barriers for adoption, costs involved and paybacks. The study also queried those not yet involved concerning their reasons for not implementing automation. PRIMIR’s headquarters is at 1899 Preston White Drive, Reston, VA 20191, telephone 703/264-7200, e-mail info@primir.org.
