April 29. 2005 -- Following the recent review of print buying across the Virgin Group, the organisation is currently installing an Internet-based print e-procurement solution from Polestar Applied Solutions across a number of its companies. Specifically, the Httprint system streamlines both the competitive tendering and contractual requisitioning procurement processes from ‘Request for Quotation’ to call off from stock or via print-on-demand. A spokesperson for Virgin Group Procurement says: “Virgin Management saw the Httprint e-procurement system as the best solution to enable a wide range of print buying departments across a number of Virgin businesses to leverage the pool of rostered print suppliers selected by Virgin.” Paul Seaborn, managing director of Polestar Applied Solutions, says: “This system connects all parties involved, including creative, marketing, external agencies, print buyers and suppliers into a streamlined collaborative online workflow. All processes and spend can be tracked and reported, thereby serving as a valuable management information tool.
