IKON Offers Improved Digital Imaging Service for Legal Customers

Press release from the issuing company

MALVERN, Pa.--April 18, 2005-- IKON Office Solutions, the world's largest independent channel for document management systems and services and one of the largest providers of legal document services in the United States, today announced that it is offering an enhanced digital imaging service, IKON PremiumScan Plus(SM). This high-volume imaging solution was built to help increase document accuracy and production efficiency for the legal community. The new process is designed to streamline document workflow allowing for heightened quality control measures and enhance adherence to deadlines, to ultimately help drive bottom-line results for law firms and corporate law departments. IKON PremiumScan Plus is currently available and utilized in all 65 IKON Legal Document Services locations throughout the country and has enabled IKON to increase its imaging capacity by approximately 25%. "Accurately producing legal documents in an organized and expedient manner is one of the most critical document challenges facing litigation production personnel today," said Michael E. Kohlsdorf, senior vice president of IKON Enterprise Services. "To help law firms and corporate legal departments manage litigation production more effectively, we are offering IKON PremiumScan Plus to provide our customers with enhanced document imaging while continuing to meet their copying needs." IKON PremiumScan Plus is faster than most imaging solutions on the market today. The digital platform leverages innovative technology that results in increased productivity and speed to meet project deadlines. The imaging technology automatically detects two-sided documents and outputs copies and images with complete information, front and back, eliminating missed back-sides. In addition, the solution utilizes software to automate de-speckling and de-skewing of originals, for better image quality. IKON PremiumScan Plus also uses bar-coded markers that digitally capture document characteristics such as stapling, clipping and box sequencing. The barcode information helps IKON to scan, transmit, print and reassemble boxes of documents for its customers at multiple sites while maintaining the integrity of cases and work. IKON PremiumScan Plus helps increase document accuracy, quality and production capacity. The process is designed to heighten efficiencies and quality control processes. The IKON PremiumScan Plus service has allowed IKON to reallocate staffing for a one-to-one ratio of quality control experts to document management specialists. This increased coverage allows IKON's operator and quality control specialist to work as a team to check each image in real time throughout the process. This approach helps to reduce instructional errors, decrease time required to complete projects, and increase our overall capacity for legal customers. "In 2004, IKON helped its legal customers produce 2.5 billion document image scans through our Legal Document Services network," said Kohlsdorf. "Our new approach is taking legal document management to a new level by providing our customers with world-class imaging technology, solutions and services so they can focus on their core legal services business. In addition, this new solution can be leveraged in other industries requiring high volume document imaging and output standards such as healthcare and financial services." IKON's Legal Document Services network has helped hundreds of top law firms and Corporate Counsel of the Fortune 1000 to overcome the challenges associated with information access, control and dissemination. From document capture and coding to duplication, distribution and storage, IKON leverages the latest technology to create efficient document management services and solutions for its clients. In addition, IKON employs rigorous and comprehensive quality control processes.
