January 5, 2005 – One of the leading printing companies in China, C&C, with facilities in Hong Kong, Shenzhen and Beijing has placed an order with Goss International for two shaftless Goss Sunday 2000 presses. The new presses – the first Goss Sunday presses to be ordered in China - will be installed at the company’s state-of-the-art facility in Shenzhen by the end of 2005. Mr. Charles Lo, CEO of C&C said of the order, “The make-ready efficiency of the Goss Sunday 2000 presses will provide us with the capability to handle the longer run lengths required in China. Creating new market opportunities for us with its enhanced features we are able to maintain our quality leadership while reinforcing our commitment to the dynamic and changing needs of the market.” C&C also has five Goss M600 press lines at its facilities in Shenzhen and Beijing. While the M600 presses produce 16 pages and up to 55,000 copies per hour the new Goss Sunday presses will produce 24 pages at speeds up to 60,000 copies per hour at the same high quality standards the company has come to expect. This strategic purchase has been driven by the desire to meet the increased demands for run length, quality and turn around time by its client base in the region.” The Goss Sunday 2000 presses offer a host of benefits including gapless blanket technology and pinless folders. Gapless blankets not only provide premium print quality but they can be changed in a matter of seconds ensuring fast make-ready. They also eliminate vibration related defects in the print and result in an ability to maintain high quality at faster speeds. The features of the press also make the Sunday 2000 press system cost effective in terms of paper. Savings in this area can be gained as the 590mm cut-off produces the same products as the 598mm conventional 16 page presses the company were previously using. Mr. Lo confirms, “While the Goss Sunday 2000 press excels in any commercial application it is best suited where fast make-ready features and the ability to reduce paper waste are critical profitability factors. The new cut-off length will save us 8mm of paper per impression which over the course of a year is a substantial cost saving both for us and our customers.” Each new press has a cut-off of 590mm and will consist of four units with one web, one PCF 1:2 folder, a Goss Contiweb CS splicer, and a Goss EcoCool dryer. The order will also include Goss Omnicon press controls for efficient make-ready. Each press can run as an independent four-unit press to deliver 24 page magazines, catalogs and books or can be duplexed in a side by side configuration to produce 48 page sections. “The quality of print in China’s commercial heatset market is becoming more and more important as a greater number of products for retail advertising are being produced. The Sunday 2000 press lines will enhance our already very high quality products while giving us the capability to handle the longer print runs.
