Domtar Announces Changes to Management Committee

MONTREAL, Dec. 17 - Domtar Inc. announced today changes to its Management Committee after a review of its Pulp and Paper organization. These changes are effective immediately. "Our new organization is designed to help us meet customer needs, while also flattening our structure. We believe that these changes will allow us to be more focused and responsive to the dynamics of our two main paper businesses: office and commercial printing papers, and technical, specialty and converting papers", noted Raymond Royer, President and Chief Executive Officer of Domtar Inc. The following changes are made to Domtar's Management Committee: Steven A. Barker, currently Senior Vice President, Paper Merchants, becomes Senior Vice President, Pulp and Paper Sales and Marketing. Mr. Barker will be responsible for the sale and marketing of all Domtar business and commercial printing papers, as well as the Company's market pulp. Robert J. Belanger, currently Vice President, Technology, is promoted to Senior Vice President, Specialty Papers. Mr. Belanger will oversee the manufacturing, marketing and sales of technical, specialty and converting papers. He will also be responsible for the Espanola and Port Huron mills. James F. Lenhoff, currently Vice President General Manager, Cincinnati Branch, Domtar Distribution Group is promoted to Senior Vice President, Paper Merchants. Mr. Lenhoff will replace Steven A. Barker as head of Domtar owned paper merchants, which operate under the umbrella name, the Domtar Distribution Group. Hubert Pelletier, currently Vice President, Manufacturing, Premium Printing Papers, is promoted to Senior Vice President, Paper Supply Chain. Mr. Pelletier will be responsible for customer service, planning of production, logistics, and procurement. Pierre Trudel, currently Vice President, Manufacturing, Printing and Imaging Papers, is promoted to Senior Vice President, Pulp and Paper Technology. Mr. Trudel will be responsible for ensuring technological development at all mills so as to meet changing customer needs. George Kobrynsky, currently Senior Vice President, Pulp and Paper Sales and Marketing, and Roland Gagnon, Senior Vice President, Supply Chain and Information Technology, are leaving Domtar's Management Committee and will retire from the Company in 2005. Up until their respective departures, they will act as special advisors to the President and CEO and will assist their respective successors in the transition. "I want to thank George and Roland for their loyal service. They have made invaluable contributions to the Corporation and have played a key role in making Domtar the third largest manufacturer of uncoated freesheet in North America," stated Raymond Royer. The responsibilities of the other members of the Management Committee, namely Claude Belley, Senior Vice President, Human Resources; Roger Brear, Senior Vice President, Paper Manufacturing; Daniel Buron, Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer; Richard Garneau, Senior Vice President, Forest Products; Gilles Pharand, Senior Vice President, Corporate Affairs and General Counsel; and Raymond Royer, President and CEO remain unchanged as a result of this announcement.
