Harvard Law School Selects Cadmus for Electronic Distribution

Press release from the issuing company

RICHMOND, Va., Oct. 27 -- Cadmus Communications Corporation today announced that The Program on Negotiation (PON) at Harvard Law School will use RapidRights(TM) from Cadmus ArticleWorks for digital rights management (DRM) protection of its role simulations and case studies. PON is the world's foremost research center for multidisciplinary studies on negotiation and is made up of faculty from Harvard University, MIT and Tufts University. Cadmus will assist PON in the sale and distribution of protected PDF versions of negotiation teaching exercises through the PON Clearinghouse (http://www.pon.org). Last year the PON Clearinghouse sold approximately 100,000 role simulations and case studies in printed form, mostly to educators in North America. ArticleWorks will enable PON to sell electronic versions of its exercises for the first time without the risk of unauthorized use or distribution. This will help PON better serve its existing North American audience, and to reach international markets where growth has been hampered because of the high cost and delays associated with the shipping of printed materials. "We're excited about providing our teaching materials in electronic format, both to serve educators who teach or distribute materials online, and to make distribution more efficient and cost-effective," said Melissa Manwaring, Director of Curriculum Development with Program on Negotiation at Harvard Law School. "ArticleWorks is the perfect solution because it allows us to protect our intellectual property and is easy for our customers to use. They don't have to download any additional software to open or read the files." "PON is the second educational resource center to choose ArticleWorks to distribute and protect their content," commented Hai Tran, Senior Vice- President of Technology and Strategic Development. "Our experience so far shows that PON should be able to significantly increase the reach of its program by supplementing its existing hardcopy program with an offering of electronic simulations." ArticleWorks is a comprehensive content delivery and digital rights management system with complete e-commerce functionality that enables publishers and other content providers to deliver content on demand in either printed or secure electronic formats. ArticleWorks is also used by the Case Program of the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University.
