Heidelberg USA Announces New Product Installation Report

KENNESAW, Ga. – September 30, 2004 – Heidelberg USA announces the following sample of new product installations: Bedwick & Jones Printing Expands Bindery with Stahlfolder B-20 Bedwick & Jones Printing, located in Wilkes Barre, Pa., recently added a continuous-feed Stahlfolder B-20 to its bindery. The shop upgraded from a pile feeder and has seen a substantial increase in production since the installation. The new equipment is being used to finish annual reports, postcards and saddle-stitch books. Bedford & Jones is a privately owned general commercial print shop servicing clients in the mid-Atlantic region. The company has been a loyal Heidelberg customer for 44 years. Chicago Tape & Label Adds Polar 92X Cutter Chicago Tape & Label, located in Whitewater, Wis., recently installed a new Polar 92X cutter. The new Heidelberg system is being used to finish fabric mattress and furniture labels. Chicago Tape & Label is a label printer servicing clients in the U.S., Canada, Mexico and abroad. Del Val Publishing Installs Press, Postpress Equipment Del Val Publishing of Sunrise, Fla., recently installed a Speedmaster SM 74-DI, a B-20 Stahlfolder and a Polar 92X cutter. The new Heidelberg equipment is being used to produce short runs of magazines, postcards, newsletters and brochures. Founded in 2001, Del Val Publishing specializes in general commercial printing and publishing. The shop services local clients consisting mainly of publishing companies. Econoprint Installs Printmaster QM 46 Econoprint, located in Racine, Wis., recently installed a new 2-color Heidelberg Printmaster QM 46. The company is using the new press to produce letterhead, envelopes and brochures. Econoprint is a general commercial print shop that has been in business for 32 years. The shop houses 21 employees and services clients in the manufacturing and financial industries. Econoprint has been a loyal Heidelberg customer for 12 years. Hal Leonard Adds Stitchmaster ST 270 Hal Leonard Corporation in Winona, Minn., has added Heidelberg’s Stitchmaster ST 270 to its bindery. The new equipment is being used to finish 6” x 9” and 9” x 12” books. Founded in 1947, Hal Leonard is the largest print publisher of sheet music in the world. The company employs more than 300 people in production and distribution. Horizon Printing Installs New Heidelberg CD 74 Horizon Printing, located in Austin, Texas, recently installed a 5-color Speedmaster CD 74 press with coater. The new Heidelberg system is being used to produce general commercial work such as ad materials, direct mail pieces and political presentation material. Founded more than 14 years ago, Horizon houses 40 employees and expects to bring in $6 million in sales in 2004. The all-Heidelberg shop has been a loyal customer for nine years. May Graphics Improves Productivity with Prosetter 74 May Graphics and Printing Inc., a small commercial print shop in Westford, Mass., recently installed Heidelberg’s Prosetter 74 Semi-Auto to help streamline prepress production and cut down on labor costs by further automating the plate-setting process. Since the installation of the new prepress system in June, May Graphics already has gained new efficiencies and diminished costs in job production by enabling the company to increase the size of its run lengths and allowing for quicker turnaround time due to ease of setup. The Prosetter 74 is the latest addition to this virtually all-Heidelberg shop. May Graphics & Printing produces small-to-mid-range jobs, focusing on items such as brochures, mailers and stationery. OVS Printing Expands Output with New Speedmaster SM 74 OVS Printing, Inc., located in Denver, Colo., recently installed an 8-color Heidelberg Speedmaster SM 74 with perfector and coater. The new press is being used to produce general commercial work such as brochures and catalogs. Founded in 1919, OVS Printing services local trade customers and runs all Heidelberg equipment. Palmarozzo Bindery Adds VFZ 52 Knife Folder Palmarozzo Bindery of Union, N.J., has added a Heidelberg VFZ 52 knife folder to complement a remarketed ST-90 Stahl saddle-stitcher and B-30 Stahlfolder, both of which were recently installed in August of 2004. The new postpress equipment in being used to finish mailers and stitch booklets and has streamlined the stitching and folding process within the shop. Palmarozzo Bindery has been family-owned and operated since 1884 and has been a loyal Heidelberg customer for six years. The shop has a mixed clientele consisting of small, local businesses. RDW Imaging Installs QMDI-46 Plus RDW Imaging, Inc., located in Wheaton, Md., recently installed a QMDI 46 Plus press. The new Heidelberg system is being used to produce saddle-stitch books, fliers and postcards and has produced more than one million impressions since the installation. Run by a husband-and-wife team, RDW Imaging is a prepress house that has been in business for more than two years. The QMDI 46 is the shop’s first press. RDW Imaging services both local and national customers in various sectors of the government. Steve Woods Improves Workflow with Prinance Print Management System Steve Woods Printing Co., a general commercial printer located in Phoenix, Ariz., recently installed Heidelberg’s Prinect Prinance Print Management System. The Prinance package works seamlessly with the company’s digital prepress system made by another manufacturer and a trio of competitive large- and small-format presses, as well as with a Heidelberg Polar 137 cutter and TD66 and TD78 folders. Steve Woods offers computer-to-plate conventional offset printing, variable data digital printing, mailing and finishing services. Sun Inc. Increases Production with New Polar Cutting System Sun Inc., a full-service commercial printer located in Orangeburg, S.C., has increased postpress production more than 100 percent and driven greater efficiency into its bindery with a recently installed 54-inch Polar 137 cutting system. Since the installation, dedicated labor in the bindery has been reduced by 50 percent, enabling the company to use its workforce in other areas of the shop and further expand the business. The shop handles print jobs of all types, from artist prints to company brochures. Sun Inc. first opened as a small, four-person storefront shop 21 years ago. Today it’s an all-Heidelberg shop that employs 194 people in Ohio, Arkansas and Minnesota. Whitley Company Adds Speedmaster CD 102 Whitley Company of Austin, Texas, recently added a 6-color Speedmaster CD 102. The shop is using the new equipment to produce annual reports, college recruitment materials, ad brochures and magazines. Since the installation of the press, Whitley has increased their output to 2,000 more sheets per hour. Whitley Company is a family-owned and operated general commercial print shop that services high-quality advertising agencies and critical buyers. The shop has been in business for 54 years and has been running Heidelberg equipment since 1968.
