R&E Council Announces 30th Annual Pressroom Seminar

White Stone, VA, September 2004—The Research & Engineering Council of the National Association for Printing Leadership has announced that its 30th annual seminar on Productivity in the Pressroom will be held November 16 and 17, 2004, at the Marriott Chicago O’Hare in Chicago, Illinois. The meeting will deal extensively with the latest technologies available in the pressroom environment, as well as management techniques applicable to pressroom operations. The 2004 conference will offer pressroom personnel and printing management from both sheetfed and web operations the opportunity to learn the latest techniques in pressroom processes, equipment, and personnel management, as well as a review of major Drupa 2004 introductions affecting the pressroom. At the meeting, the R&E Council will name the 2004 Pressroom Manager of the Year. Presenting the opening keynote address at the 2004 R&E Council pressroom seminar will be Paul V. Reilly, Chairman, CEO, and President of Cenveo, Inc., formerly Mail-Well. The theme of Reilly’s keynote will be Differentiating Print. On the second day of the conference, a keynote address will be made by Paul Steidle, Member of the Executive Board of MAN Roland. His subject will be The Challenges Ahead. Among the operational and managerial issues to be addressed during the two-day meeting are makeready techniques, color loop color and color management, digital in-line finishing, and computer integrated manufacturing (CIM) for legacy presses. A special session will deal with the threats and opportunities presented by offshore printing. The seminar is being chaired by John P. Sweeney, Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Integrated Color Solutions. Speakers and panel leaders include top-level pressroom personnel from printers such as Globus Printing, Hallmark Cards, Harcourt Trade Publishers, Japs-Olson, Suttle-Straus, and Worzalla Publishing. The seminar is of particular interest to printers and publishers who seek one single conference at which to address the latest in pressroom technologies and operating techniques.
