Dr. Joseph Raksis Named Chairman, CEO of Precisia

Ann Arbor, MI (21 July 2004) ­– Flint Ink has appointed Dr. Joseph Raksis to the position of chairman and CEO of Precisia, LLC, the new technology business unit launched last year to target radio frequency identification (RFID) and other printed electronics applications. “Joe’s experience and management skills will be strong resources for the Precisia team and enable them to dedicate their efforts toward accelerating the development of product offerings to meet the demands of this rapidly growing market segment,” said Dave Frescoln, president of Flint Ink. Jim Rohrkemper, president of Precisia, will continue to drive the entrepreneurial energies of the team, which are critical to the success of Precisia's cutting-edge technologies. “The interest generated by Precisia’s participation at drupa underscored the need for us to move quickly in order to fully realize our potential,” notes Jim. “Joe’s support and expertise will provide additional resources as we continue to build our business in printed electronics applications.” In addition to his new responsibilities as chairman of Precisia's seven-member governance board, Dr. Raksis will continue his duties as Sr. Vice President for Research and New Market Development of Flint Ink. In that position he is responsible for implementing long-term strategic plans for new product development and new markets on a worldwide basis. Dr. Raksis joined Flint Ink in 1997. Previously, he was with W. R. Grace & Co. in Columbia, Maryland, where he was vice president of the Research Division. He received his Ph.D. in Physical Organic Chemistry from the University of California, Irvine, and was a National Science Foundation Cooperative Fellow. He has authored 15 scientific publications, and holds 12 U.S. patents. He is on the board of directors and is past chairman of the Industrial Research Institute, and serves as president of the National Printing Ink Research Institute (NPIRI).
