July 7th, 2004 – Goss International has taken an order from The Jennings Daily News, Louisiana, USA for a new Goss Community press. The order has been placed following the installation in 2001 of a new Community press at its sister newspaper The Ruston Daily Leader and will replace its existing Harris V-15 press. Good experience with Goss presses in the past is just one of the reasons behind this latest investment. Marc Richard, Vice President of The Jennings Daily News, explains, “We believe that you get what you pay for in terms of quality and our excellent experience with our Community press at Ruston made it an easy choice this time around. Goss is an industry leader and innovator in the web press systems market, and our confidence in them has been key to our investment decision.” Like most newspaper advertisers today, those of The Jennings Daily News are seeing the benefits of full color advertising. “Despite our market size, advertisers are demanding full color capability. This has continually pushed the quality and color capability needs upward for even the smallest of newspapers,” confirms Richard. The new press will consist of seven Goss Community units arranged as one four-high, three mono units and one folder, and will be used to print The Jennings Daily News which has a daily circulation of around 5,000 copies, as well as other local small weekly publications. Anticipating better reader acceptance from the greatly improved printing quality of the newspaper, the publisher also expects increased revenues and greater customer satisfaction in the area of color advertisements. Richard comments, “We are looking forward with great anticipation to the installation of our second new Goss Community press across the group in the last three years. The Community is the workhorse of the smaller newspaper and we are pleased that it is an industry leader in today’s competitive environment for manufacturers.” Sam Pernice, Regional Sales Manager, Goss International states, “The equipment ordered by The Jennings Daily News is almost identical to the press system installed at Ruston in 2001. The customer’s satisfaction with the Goss product and service led to this second order from our ISO9001 certified plant in Shanghai, China. The new press will provide them with increased paginations, greater flexibility, and more color and will enable them to better service their advertisers and readers in the area. It will also help the company in its aim to demonstrate its long-term commitment to the community in providing the very best daily newspaper.” Richard says, “When making a deal that is as important – both financially and operationally – as the purchase of press equipment, we always want to do business with companies who have our best interests in mind. That’s been the Goss approach and is the reason why we have chosen to purchase from Goss again. “The presses are great but we couldn’t have asked for a better working relationship than we have with Goss representatives. Back this up with Goss’ pre-purchase knowledge, no-nonsense approach, installation service and follow-up, and it’s easy to see why it’s a relationship we want to continue.” Founded in 1896, The Jennings Daily News was purchased by its current owners – Newspaper Service Co Inc. – in 1957. Part of the Fackleman Newspaper group, it also owns newspapers in Texas, Missouri, Florida and Virginia. “We are very proud to say we run Goss Community presses because we are equally committed as Goss to service and quality production of newspapers,” concludes Richard. ‘Goss’, the Goss logo, ‘Goss International’ and ‘Community’ are registered trademarks of Goss International Corporation.
